The Lady Tigercats suffered defeat at the hands of Pomeroy last weekend and are now focused on remaining competitive during the final league games this weekend. The Lady T-cats match up against the number one ranked Colton team on Friday before hosting St. John-Endicott on Saturday.
Saturday night’s game marks the final game of the season for the Lady Tigercats who have battled all season to earn a win in league, but have fallen just short.
The Lady Tigercats will honor three seniors, Kadie Whinery, Lindsey Miller and LeAnne Blauert, on Saturday night during the final home game.
The Lady Tigercats struggled to contain Pomeroy last weekend when the Lady Pirates ran away with a comfortable lead early in the game. The LWK team suffered a scoreless second quarter and went into halftime trailing the Pomeroy team, 38-4.
With the Lady Tigercats being unable to get many shots off in the first half, the team focused on taking more shots and being patient on offense.
While Pomeroy rotated through athletes on the bench, the Lady Tigercats capitalized on offense and put up more second half points.
Jessica Guske stepped up on offense in the third quarter by fighting to the basket and putting up shots of the LWK team. Her efforts took her to the line where she hit both free throws and ended the night with four points.
Eighth grade athlete Jazzmyn Gordon continued to lead the Lady Tigercats in scoring with a strong fourth quarter effort.
Gordon led the team with five points, all which she earned in the final quarter of the game.
Senior Blauert added four points to the final score with hitting two shots during the evening’s game.
The Lady Tigercats have a tough weekend ahead, facing the undefeated Colton Wildcats on Friday night before taking on the fourth ranked St. John-Endicott team.
The Tigercats host SJE in LaCrosse on Saturday night, with tip-off set at 6 p.m.
