Students from Lind-Ritzville Middle School and Ritzville Grade School submitted essays to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Sergeant Gerald A. Kulm Post No. 11446 for the annual writing contest. The Patriot’s Pen contest at the middle school focused on: What patriotism means to me. Fifth grade students at Ritzville Grade School composed essays answering the question: My American hero is…?
Members of the local VFW post judged the essays, and the winning essays moved on to the district level. Two students won the district competition and the essays will now be judged at the state level.
