Jan. 18, 9:36 p.m. – An anonymous caller advised he had received third hand information of a vehicle going off the road at East Rosenoff and North Jantz Roads. The caller advised it had happened two hours prior to calling the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Ned Bernath arrived at the local and observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in a wide area of the shoulder well off the side of the travel portion of the roadway. It appeared the vehicle had slid off the road, drove back on and parked.
Jan. 18, 7:52 p.m. –
Deputy Bernath was advised of two subjects having vehicle problems parked on North Horseshoe Lake Road. Ritzville complainant advised the two subjects would have to travel on private property to get to the location. Bernath contacted the subjects who advised they had become lost on back roads and traveled through several gated areas before they were able to locate their broken down vehicle. The subjects were already receiving assistance upon contact, and the property owner asked they be warned about knowing where they are so they don’t end up on private property in the future.
Jan. 18, 12:42 p.m. –
Ritzville complainant returned home and discovered the pump to the diesel fuel tank was running. Complainant believed someone stole off-road diesel sometime between Jan. 15 and 17. The complainant told Sergeant Brian Taylor he had no way of knowing how much fuel may have been taken.
Jan. 16, 9:46 p.m. – An anonymous complainant called and reported a suspicious minivan at an abandoned house in Lind. Deputy Roy Montalvo arrived in the area and found the vehicle had left the scene. Montalvo searched the perimeter of the house and it appeared secure. Montalvo contacted the complainant by phone who advised they did not want personal contact but wanted the office to be aware of suspicious activity in the area.
Jan. 15, 6:11 p.m. –
Dispatch advised Deputy Montalvo contact Washtucna complainant in reference to a neighbor harassing children. Montalvo contacted the complainant who stated her neighbor arrived intoxicated at her residence and harassed her children. Complainant was advised to contact the courts to petition for a harassment order. Montalvo contacted the neighbor who stated he did go over to the complainants and cussed out the children because they were causing problems with his children. Both parties were advised if they felt the need, to petition the courts for harassment orders. They were also advised they were trespassed from each other’s property.
Jan. 14, 8:26 p.m. –
Sprague complainant advised of a possible DUI parked at West First Avenue in Ritzville after observing the vehicle traveling at 35 miles per hour through town and was concerned about the driving. Deputy Bernath arrived at the location and observed the vehicle with its hood up and steam coming from inside the engine compartment. Bernath contacted the three subjects who advised they were having engine problems. None of them appeared impaired and advised they were on their way to Spokane.
Jan. 14, 6:05 p.m. –
Ritzville complainant advised of two vehicles parked at North Highway 21 with lights off and two male subjects standing outside. Deputy Bernath contacted the male subject, whose vehicle had blown a tire and was trying to get the vehicle loaded on the trailer, but had been unsuccessful. The subject advised he would return to collect his vehicle later. Bernath advised the vehicle was parked well off the roadway.
Jan. 13, 2:34 p.m. –
Ritzville complainant advised of finding vandalism to her vehicle, which had occurred several days before. Deputy Jeffrey Lane responded.
Jan. 9, 1:53 p.m. –
Odessa complainant reported his shop was broken into recently on East Snowden Road. Deputy Lane responded.
Jan. 9, 11:54 a.m. –
Auburn complainant advised of an alarm on East Rosenoff Road. Deputy Lane and Sergeant Ben Buriak responded and contacted the residence. No signs of entry were observed and the responsible was notified.
Jan. 9, 9:36 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a hazardous condition at North Suko Road where a semi truck had leaked about 100 gallons of diesel onto the ground. Sergeant Buriak responded and learned the semi was on private property and had struck a large concrete block puncturing a fuel tank. The spill was contained and later cleaned up.
Jan. 8, 10:09 a.m. – Deer Park complainant advised of a theft of copper bus bars sometime since September on North Highway 261.
Jan. 8, 8:35 a.m. – Ritzville complainant reported his shop was broken into again the previous night on West Rosenoff Road. Deputy Lane and Sergeant Buriak contacted the complainant and observed his motors and pumps inside the shop were tampered with.
Jan. 7, 3:22 p.m. – Lind complainant found items of drug paraphernalia at North Wahl Road and South Van Marter Avenue. Deputy Lane placed the items into evidence to be destroyed.
Jan. 7, 12:04 p.m. –
Ritzville complainant advised of a black Chevy pickup with dealer plates parked in the road between Short and Suko Road. The complainant stated there were two men shooting pistols down the road toward Suko. Deputy Lane contacted the pickup and determined no crime had occurred.
Jan. 6, 1:08 p.m. – Deputy Lane located a cold burglary on West Koch Road.
