Students can apply for Senate Page Program

Each year, Senator Mark Schoesler sponsors area students who take part in the Senate Page Program. During the program, pages assist senators with legislative duties such as mail delivery, running errands, and presenting the flags at the start of a daily session in the Senate chamber.

In “page school,” students learn about parliamentary procedure and have a chance to practice drafting bills and engage in mock lawmaking sessions. The program assists students to learn about state government over the course of a week.

The Senate Page Program is limited to students who will be between the ages of 14 and 16 during the 2014 legislative session, which is scheduled to run through March 13. Students can learn more about the Senate Page Program by visiting the website: http://leg.wa.gov/senate/administration/pageprogram/.

Any student who is interested in participating and needs help with the application process is asked to call Senator Schoesler’s office at 360-786-7620.
