Lady Tigercats slip to 0-4 in league

Rosalia proved to be a tough competitor Friday night in LaCrosse when they handed the LWK Lady Tigercats their fourth league loss this season.

The Lady Tigercats fell to the Lady Spartans with a final score of 46-23.

The Lady Spartans took a commanding lead over the LWK team in the first quarter outscoring the Lady Tigercats 4-12 when the first buzzer sounded. Rosalia continued with double digit scoring during the first three quarters while the Lady Tigercats remained in the single digit-scoring bracket throughout the whole game.

The Lady Tigercats struggled to contain Rosalia athlete Mackenzie Reddish, who ended the night with 16 points.

The Lady Tigercats turned up the tempo in the fourth quarter and held Rosalia to only five points in the eight minutes of play. While the Lady Tigercats had two senior athletes benched late in the game due to fouling out, the remaining LWK players stepped up to outscore Rosalia.

The change in momentum came late in the game when Jessica Guske threw up a 3-pointer and sank the shot.

The enthusiasm led to the Lady Tigercats having patience on offense and playing solid defense on the other end of the court.

Jazzmyn Gordon led the Lady Tigercats scoring drive with seven points closely followed by Lindsey Miller with six points.

Jazlynn Webb and Guske had three points each. LeAnne Blauert and Kadie Whinery finished the night with two points each.

The Lady Tigercats face Colton and Garfield-Palouse in league games this week.

The LWK team hosts Colton in LaCrosse on Friday before traveling to Palouse on Saturday evening.
