Lady T-cats struggle in Dayton Tournament play

The LWK Lady Tigercats competed in the Dayton Tournament last weekend and suffered two more non-league losses at the holiday tourney. The Lady Tigercats faced Dayton Friday night before returning to the court Saturday afternoon to play Asotin.

After a scoreless first quarter against Dayton, the Lady Tigercats quickly picked up the pace and put six points on the scoreboard in the second quarter. The Lady Tigercats went into halftime trailing Dayton, 26-6.

The Lady Tigercats continue to struggle with getting shots to fall this season, and the team is working to gain confidence on the offensive end for more athletes to put up shots during the game. During the second half, multiple athletes stepped up and took shots, which converted to 10 points for the Lady Tigercats.

Dayton continued the commanding lead throughout the game and secured a 46-16 win over the Lady Tigercats in the first day of play at the tournament.

Jazzmyn Gordon led the Lady Tigercats with six points against Dayton. Jessica Guske had five points. Lindsey Miller and LeAnne Blauert each had two points. Kadie Whinery had one point.

The loss moved the Lady Tigercats down the tournament bracket to face Asotin on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigercats ended their time at the holiday tournament with a 58-18 loss to Asotin.

The team struggled to contain Asotin athlete Brielle Whittaker, who scored 24 points against the Lady Tigercats.

Leading the scoring for the Lady Tigercat was Whinery with four points. Miller, Nicole Harder and Blauert each had three points. Jazlynn Webb and Guske each scored two points, while Gordon had one point.

The Lady Tigercats return to the court to face Rosalia in a league contest on Friday in LaCrosse.
