Yevette Sweet brings her business back to Ritzville

Local massage therapist Yevette Sweet has returned to Ritzville to provide clients and community members with muscle relief. Sweet is continuing to work in cooperation with local chiropractor Dr. Warren Kragt, and currently works out of a room at Kragt Chiropractic in Ritzville.

Sweet began her massage training at the Inland Massage Institute and has 17 years of experience as a massage therapist. Sweet worked on and off for 15 years with Kragt and is happy to return to Ritzville to continue serving her clients.

Along with her desire to help relieve pain for her clients, Sweet is also excited about the addition of an electrically operated table in her office. The table allows her to have a mid-split, raise and lower the table, and the face compress moves, all which helps allow clients to receive the best massage possible.

Sweet explained working on flat tables creates compression depress, while the new table allows her accessibility to her clients by opening up the back with the mid-split and being able to adjust the table height easily based on each individual client. The mid-split opens up the clients back, Sweet explained, and immediately helps relieve stress on the back.

Though she does full body massages, Sweet said she specializes in neck and shoulder massages, but does not do infant massages. Typically, Sweet explains her technique as a deep tissue massage, but caters the massage to clients to serve their individual needs.

Sweet only books hour-long massages, but explained the actual treatment is between 50-55 minutes. She spends the beginning of each session discussing the reason for the client’s visit to determine the areas that need the most attention because of the discomfort the patient is feeling.

Initially when Sweet began her career, she thought she wanted to be a sports massage therapist but quickly learned she did not like working with the athletes. She explained she changed her mind and “wanted to work on teachers, farmers and nice people” and the Ritzville community has suited her well.

Sweet is currently working on Monday and Thursdays from Kragt Chiropractic and typically sees five patients a day. She explained if the demand increases, she might consider adding an extra day onto her workweek.

“You want to keep it where you love it,” Sweet said about working two days a week. “I love my clients. Your clients are what keep you doing it.”

Sweet does not book clients through insurance, but does accept personal injury (PI) referrals from Kragt. She charges a flat rate of $60 for an hour massage and appointments can be scheduled by calling 659-0703. The clinic is located at 116 East Main Avenue.
