Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
According to a report published in part in The Journal, the Critical Access Hospital (aka East Adams Rural Hospital) does not now “provide a safe and secure environment for the provision of patient care.” Let us parse those words a bit. The commissioners and administration of EARH No.2 are not providing a safe and secure environment for the provision of medical care for their own families, friends, neighbors or anyone else unfortunate enough to have need of the facility.
The current condition of the hospital, an unsafe environment did not happen because the facility was aging, but because those responsible for overseeing district facilities did not do their jobs.
If the state gives the hospital the additional time (again) to bring the facility into compliance, it would be a nice thing if it were possible to turn over the facility temporarily to another group of persons who would intend to put things right. The current board of commissioners and the CEO inspire no confidence. The recent two EARH No.2 boards of commissioners have bungled everything they have touched in their efforts to build a new facility. Recent board changes have occurred on the hospital board but they give no joy. The current commissioners and CEO have given us no reason to have confidence in their ability or willingness to make things right.
