Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Infrastructure Assistance Coordinating Council (IACC) met at the Wenatchee Convention center to honor recently completed infrastructure projects, and the people who have dedicated their lives to making communities livable in Washington state.
Lincoln County took home a lion’s share of the hardware at the awards program having scored winning projects in the Drinking Water and the Community Facilities Awards. Lincoln County Fire District No.1 in Sprague won for the Regional Emergency Response Center in the Community Facilities category.
The main fire hall was obsolete 10 years after it was built back in 1949. The structure was built upon a flood plain, failing, substandard, and the water in the fire apparatus would freeze solid during the winter months. With assistance from FEMA, Lincoln County Fire District No. 1 has built a state of the art facility that serves the needs of all first responders within a 200-mile radius of Sprague. The new Lincoln County Emergency Response Center is an example of what can happen when someone dares to dream big and then rallies the support of the community to make that dream a reality.
The IACC is a unique nonprofit organization made up of board members representing Federal, State, and Local Governments, as well as Tribal and nonprofit organizations. The IACC assists communities, with limited resources, in planning, finding grants or other creative solutions; or can provide technical expertise in community problem solving with the purpose of building stronger towns through better livability, and economic development.
