Ritzville Police Department Report

Oct. 10, 10:58 a.m. – Chief Dave McCormick made contact with a complainant at the police station who wanted to turn over a cell phone they found on Second Avenue.

Oct. 10, 10:25 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to an animal complaint on East Sixth Avenue. Complainant advised of a loose dog, appears to be a light colored Lab mix and is barking. Upon arrival Chief McCormick observed the animal in the front seat of a pickup being driven away.

Oct. 9, 7:26 p.m. – Officer Tom Gracie responded to a harassment complaint in the 200 block of West Main Avenue. Upon arrival, Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated they received a threatening voicemail from an unknown female subject.

Oct. 9, 4:54 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a nuisance complaint in the 200 block of East Broadway. Upon arrival, Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who was unhappy with the yard debris in the neighbor’s yard. Officer Gracie advised the complainant there was no violation of the law and they should contact city hall to voice their concerns.

Oct. 9, 3:37 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a suspicious 911 call in the 500 block of East First Avenue. A female subject was transported to the hospital for mental health observation.

Oct. 9, 11:35 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a harassment complaint in the 500 block of West First Avenue. Upon arrival, the complainant advised they received several harassing text messages from a co-worker. Both parties worked out the communication issue through their employer.

Oct. 8, 10:48 p.m. – While on patrol, Officer Hunter Klewin observed damage to a picnic table and the women’s bathroom at the city park. Officer Klewin generated a malicious mischief report.

Oct. 8, 7:41 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a trespassing complaint in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Upon arrival, Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area but was unable to locate the subject.

Oct. 8, 12:30 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a vehicle prowl complaint in the 300 block of East Eighth Avenue. Upon arrival, the complainant advised sometime through the night their car and truck were prowled and they are missing three CDs valued at $51 and about $2.50 in quarters from the vehicles. There area no identifiable subjects at this time.

Oct. 8, 11:43 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a vehicle prowl complaint in the 300 block of East Third Avenue. Upon arrival, the complainant advised sometime throughout the night their vehicles were prowled. Among items found missing were a black workman flashlight and a small silver flashlight, both valued at $20.

Oct. 8, 10:25 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a welfare check request in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way. Upon arrival, Chief McCormick learned the subject had already left. Chief McCormick later located the subject at Pete’s Garage and advised everything was fine.

Oct. 7, 5:08 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a burglary complaint in the 200 block of East Fourth Avenue. Upon contact, the complainant stated between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. someone entered the residence. The complainant further stated items were out of place, drawers appeared to be rummaged through but nothing appeared to be missing.

Oct. 7, 1:06 p.m. – Sergeant Mark Cameron responded to a warrant service request in the 300 block of East Second Avenue. Sgt. Cameron located and arrested Robert Curtis on a department of correction warrant.

Oct. 7, 10:59 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to an agency assist request in the 400 block of East Sixth Avenue at the Ritzville Grade School. Sgt. Cameron assisted as needed and cleared.

Oct. 7, 9:47 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a harassment complaint in the 1500 block of Smitty’s Boulevard. Upon arrival, the complainant advised their friend was being harassed sexually at work.

Oct. 7, 7:10 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a vehicle prowl complaint in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at the Best Western. Upon arrival, Sgt. Cameron located the victim vehicle and observed the rear passenger window had been broken out. Sgt. Cameron contacted the registered owner who advised nothing appeared to be missing.

Oct. 7, 2:43 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a silent alarm in the 1600 block of Smitty’s Boulevard at Cow Creek. Upon arrival, Officer Klewin determined the business had been burglarized, but nothing was taken.

Oct. 6, 2:09 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a theft complaint in the 300 block of South Columbia Street. Upon investigation it was determined a mini dirt bike was stolen by a 15-year-old juvenile male. The juvenile subject was arrested and booked into Martin Hall.

Oct. 5, 8:23 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious complaint in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Complainant advised of a female subject yelling for help in the neighboring apartment. Officer Klewin contacted the subjects in the apartment and both parties advised the incident was a verbal argument.

Oct. 5, 1:19 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a theft complaint in the 200 block of East Third Avenue. Complainant advised of fuel being siphoned from their vehicle. The complainant further advised the vehicle was parked on the north side of the street at 5 p.m. the night prior with a quarter tank of fuel and when they returned to the vehicle at 1 p.m. the fuel was empty. Sgt. Cameron checked the vehicle and did not observe any signs of evidence. There are no suspects at the time.

Oct. 5, 9:32 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious persons complaint in the 500 block of West Third Avenue. Complainant advised of two male subjects, dressed in camo from head to toe and loitering in the area. Sgt. Cameron arrived in the area and was unable to locate the subjects.

Oct. 5, 1:39 p.m. – While on patrol, Sergeant Cameron located a broken picnic table in the 800 block of South Division Street at the City Park. Sgt. Cameron contacted the public works director and advised them of the situation.

Oct. 4, 9:08 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a theft complaint in the 1500 block of South Bauman Street at the Conoco. Complainant advised of a male subject wearing a dark blue hoodie, Levis and tennis shoes who left running for the golf course with a 12 pack of Coors bottles. Upon arrival, Sgt. Cameron contacted the clerk who stated they would have to check with the owner about the video system. The price of the beer is valued at $14.74.

Oct. 4, 7:12 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a threat complaint in the 1500 block of South Bauman Street. Upon arrival, complainant advised during a child custody exchange they were threatened by their ex’s current spouse who ran up to the complainant’s vehicle yelling and banging on the window.

Oct. 4, 6:00 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious circumstance in the 600 block of West Main Avenue. Complainant advised the neighbors child came over and relayed that their mom needed help and it was a 911 emergency. Upon arrival, Sgt. Cameron learned the mother was in the process of removing an air conditioner and there was no emergency.

Oct. 4, 1:12 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a juvenile complaint in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Complainant advised of a juvenile sleeping outside an apartment in the building. Sgt. Cameron contacted the juvenile and a parole officer from juvenile court. The officer advised Sgt. Cameron to transport the juvenile home. Sgt. Cameron contacted the juvenile’s mother and explained the situation.

Oct. 3, 11:25 p.m. – While investigating a domestic situation in the 100 block of East Third Avenue, Sergeant Cameron encountered a juvenile female subject who had been consuming alcohol. Sgt. Cameron conducted a preliminary breath test on the juvenile and referred charges of minor in possession by consumption to the Adams County Juvenile Court.

Oct. 3, 10:29 p.m. – While on patrol, Sergeant Cameron was notified of a male subject laying on the ground on East Second Avenue and South Columbia Street who needed help getting back into their wheel chair. Sgt. Cameron assisted the subject back to their chair and cleared.

Oct. 3, 9:48 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a domestic disturbance complaint in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Sgt. Cameron requested assistance from Deputy Jeff Lane of the ACSO. It was learned no assault had taken place.

Oct. 3, 7:57 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious circumstance in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. Complainant advised around 6 p.m. they heard the dog barking, after which they found the garage door at the vacant house nearby was open. Sgt. Cameron contacted the owner and advised them of the situation.

Oct. 3, 1:57 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a traffic hazard complaint at Division Street and First Avenue. Complainant advised of several vehicles driving around the barricades of the closed road. Sgt. Cameron monitored the area and observed two vehicles drive around the barricades and continue through the area. Sgt. Cameron advised the drivers to use the detour routes unless accessing local businesses.

Oct. 2, 11:31 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious persons complaint in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. Complainant advised two subjects are trying to get into the house through a side door. Officer Klewin checked the area and was unable to locate anything unusual.

Oct. 2, 8:13 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a suspicious circumstance in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. Complainant advised someone was ringing the doorbell. Officer Klewin confirmed the address and advised he was attempting to contact the resident.

Oct. 2, 3:46 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a burglary complaint in the 100 block of East Seventh Avenue. Upon arrival, the complainant advised when they came home they found an open window with the screen removed. The complainant further stated that two Xbox game consoles and a lap top were missing.

Oct. 2, 2:16 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a vehicle prowl complaint in the 500 block of East Broadway Avenue. Upon arrival, Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated two cell phones and approximately $7 in change had been taken out of their vehicles.

Oct. 1, 8:56 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a 911 hang up call in the 400 block of East Fifth Avenue at the St. Agnes Church. Upon arrival, Officer Klewin checked and found all doors and windows to be secure.

Oct. 1, 6:52 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a malicious mischief complaint in the 100 block of West Birch Avenue. Upon arrival, the complainant advised of damage to their car while parked at the school.

Oct. 1, 5:20 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a welfare check request in the 300 block of East Second Avenue. Upon arrival, Officer Gracie contacted a juvenile and their mother who appeared to be well and unharmed.

Oct. 1, 4:58 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a juvenile complaint on East Birch Avenue and North Columbia Street. Dispatch advised a juvenile is smoking cigarettes in the skate park. Officer Gracie located a juvenile in the park who denied smoking. Officer Gracie did not detect the odor of tobacco smoke and cleared.
