ACPR offers grants to low-income pet owners

Adams County Pet Rescue recently received a “We Love Our Pets” License Plate Grant from the Washington Federation of Animal Care and Control Agency.

In early 2007, the Federation began to receive revenue from the sales of the “We Love Our Pets” license plates. These funds have been earmarked for spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats.

As of 2012, more than $300,000 in grant funds have been awarded by The Federation, enabling the completion of more than 12,000 spay/neuter surgeries in Washington State.

ACPR became eligible for to apply for grant funding, up to $5,000, as a voting member of the organization.

ACPR was required to submit the Animal Population Survey for the previous year and agree to use the funds solely for spay and neuter surgeries of dogs or cats residing Adams County.

The grant monies awarded to ACPR are now available to low-income pet owners in Adams County.

The program is geared toward a family of four with an annual income of $55,000 or less. Once an application is received the family is awarded a voucher for up to $70 towards spay or neuter services, with a limit of two per family.
