Jimmie Snider Field is set to be the site of a flag football tournament for over 300 youth football players on Saturday, Oct. 26. The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. and is expected to conclude around 4 p.m.
Around 70 children from the Lind and Ritzville communities are prepped to play in the season’s final games on Saturday. The athletes competing in the daylong event are students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Jimmie Snider Field is being divided into three playfields to host the event, allowing three games to be played simultaneously.
Two local kindergarten through first grade teams begin the day’s festivities at 9 a.m., with the Ritzville Buccaneers taking Field 1 to play the Reardan Raiders team and the Ritzville Colts playing on Field 2 against the Davenport Texans. The Ritzville Buccaneers return to the field at 10 a.m. to play the Wilbur Falcons on Field 2.
The Ritzville 1 second and third grade team plays the Wilbur 2 team on Field 3 at 10 a.m. and plays the Davenport 1 team on Field 2 at 11 a.m. The second and third grade Ritzville 2 team plays the Davenport 2 team at 11 a.m. on Field 1.
Continuing the second and third grade competition, the Ritzville 3 team plays Odessa 2 on Field 2 at noon, while Ritzville 4 plays Wilbur 1 on Field 3.
The fourth and fifth grade teams take the field beginning at 1 p.m. with the Ritzville 1 team playing Odessa 2 on Field 1 and the Ritzville 2 team playing Odessa 1 on Field 2. LaCrosse-Washtucna’s fourth and fifth grade team plays at 2 p.m. against the Davenport 2 team on Field 1.
Ritzville’s sixth grade team, the Packers, play on Field 3 at 2 p.m. against Odessa.
