The Lady Broncos have a tight grip on second place in the Northeast 2B League after recording a pair of wins over Reardan and Liberty.
The LRS volleyball team rolled to wins in both matches with three game sweeps. Saturday they defeated Reardan, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-17. The third game of the match was an exciting one as the team battled back after trailing by five points at the mid-point of the match.
The Lady Broncos are headed for a huge match this Saturday when they visit Davenport. The two teams are expected to do serious battle, as the regular season starts to wind down, for second place behind Colfax.
The Reardan win was a great step.
“Right now we are fighting for second place in league,” head coach Cari Galbreath said. “We’ve been wanting to beat Reardan for so long. The past two years they have just dominated. It felt good to be on the other end.”
Davenport will likely be a bigger handful.
“They are always defensively strong, which can be irritating to many teams,” Galbreath said. “I think they have a lot of girls on there that are just hungry and competitive and intense very consistently throughout the match.”
For the Lady Broncos, the team is performing well. There are areas Galbreath would like improvement.
