Lind residents and members from surrounding communities gathered together on Saturday evening to celebrate the 125th birthday of the Town of Lind and simultaneously support the Lind Chamber of Commerce.
The quasquicentennial celebration on Oct. 5 served as the Lind Chamber of Commerce’s annual auction, which raised over $10,000 for the local chamber. The auction serves as the primary yearly fundraiser for the Lind Chamber of Commerce.
With nearly 50 items donated to the live auction and another 20 items in the silent auction, those in attendance had a variety of items to chose from and bid on throughout the night.
After a social hour, an extensive meal of salads, vegetables, beef and chicken was served by Cathy Jo’s Catering. At the conclusion of the meal, Lind Mayor Jamie Schmunk welcomed those in attendance before auctioneer Warren Kragt took center stage to begin the evening’s festivities.
The highest selling item of the night was a concrete yard bench donated by Alan Schilmmer of Lind, which sold for $500. The second highest selling item of the night for $450 was a child’s electric Case IH tractor, donated by Ritzville Warehouse Company.
Other high selling items of the night included a year of Civic Theatre production tickets, a guided pheasant hunt for 12 people and tickets to a Seattle Seahawks game.
The live auction alone raised almost $9,000 for the Lind Chamber of Commerce with the majority of auction items selling for around $175 each.
Throughout the evening, a variety of door prizes were distributed and attendees had the opportunity to participate in two games. The two games, Chance Cards and Heads or Tails, awarded the winner with half of the 50/50 raffle pot. Toni Bolin proved to be the lucky lady of the night and won both games, being awarded a combined nearly $300.
The evening concluded with the awarding the final door prizes of the evening and thanking local sponsors and supporters of the chamber.
