Poetry program set at library

The Ritzville Public Library is hosting state poet laureate Kathleen Flenniken on Oct. 2, who is partnering with Spokane poet Mark Anderson and local poet Jake Harder, to have a poetry night. The poetry night begins at 6 p.m. when the artists have the opportunity to showcase their individual talent.

During the day on Oct. 2, Flenniken is traveling to the third, fourth and fifth grade classrooms to teach poetry lessons to the students. Flenniken is traveling to the area as part of the Washington State Poet Laureate Program, sponsored by Humanities Washington and Washington State Arts Commission.

The event is open to the public and is expected to entertain all ages.
