Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Washtucna Community Church has announced a new church wide 31-week program called “The Story,” set to begin on Sunday, Sept. 8.
This program engages all ages within the congregation so that worship, Sunday school, and adult classes all follow the same over-arching outline of the Bible from week to week.
The program is an attempt to bypass the tendency to study the Bible as an ancient and complex document. Instead it aims at enabling every participant to personally enter into the Bible as a higher story that gives meaning.
One of the goals of “The Story” is to allow the participant to learn to live inside the Bible in a practical way, in a reasonable amount of time. People who have been through the program have reported experiencing real spiritual renewal. Congregations have reported finding a greater sense of unity and harmony from sharing this journey through the Bible together. Elder Donna Stoess brought the idea to the congregation because of her contacts with friends in other churches that used the program.
Those who are interested in this overview of the scriptures are invited to Sunday School on Sept. 8 at 9:45 a.m., followed by worship at 11 a.m.
Washtucna Community Church is located across the street from the Washtucna School, at 705 East Booth Avenue. For more information contact the church office at 509-646-3327. There is also information on the church website at http://www.washtucnachurch.webs.com/.
