John “Casey” Rios, died at the age of 22 at his home in Hatton, on Monday, July 1.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1990, to Augustine and Dana (LaChapelle) Rios in Kennewick. He was a loving son, amazing brother, and loyal friend who will be missed.
He grew up in Hatton, alongside older sister, Millicent, and enjoyed adventures in the desert, playing video games and sports. He attended Lind High School graduating in 2009, where he played varsity football, wrestled, and participated in track and field events. He was almost never seen without his two loyal best friends, Jordan and Nolan, or as they were all known, “The Tripod.”
After high school, he attended Columbia Basin College and was employed at the Washington State Department of Agriculture as a commodities inspector. Most recently, he honored his sister by walking her down the aisle at her wedding.
He had an interest in computers and music and even taught himself how to play the bass guitar. He was also blessed with the ability to draw.
He had an infectious laugh and healthy sense of humor.
His smile was a favorite among many and he gave the best hugs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Augustine Rios; grandfathers, John LaChapelle and Agustin Rios; grandmother, Pauline Rios; and great-great-aunt Floy Durham.
He is survived by his mother, Dana (LaChapelle) Rios, of Hatton; sister, Millicent (Rios) Duffey of Bremerton, Wash.; grandmother, Joan LaChapelle of Richland; one aunt, four uncles, 11 cousins, and numerous friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at the Richland Church of the Nazarene located at 2500 Jericho Road in Richland. A private burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland will follow the celebration.
