DYW sets send-off reception for Killian, Wahl

A reception is being hosted on Sunday, July 28, to celebrate the send-off of the Distinguished Young Women of Lind and Ritzville to the state program in Pullman.

The reception is being hosted at the Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ fellowship hall in Ritzville from 4-6 p.m.

The reception is honoring Distinguished Young Woman of Lind, Maya Wahl, and Distinguished Young Woman of Ritzville, Dalyn Killian.

The two girls are preparing for the DYW state program in Pullman, which begins on Saturday, Aug. 3.

DYW is a national scholarship program that promotes academic achievement, leadership and talent in young women.

All DYW participates receive scholarships for college and the state program helps the group of young women develop friendships, self-confidence and other important life skills.

The program is hosted at no cost to the participants, and the two girls will spend the weekend living with host families in the Pullman area.

The event is open to the public and community members are encouraged to come support the young women before the state program.

Zion Philadelphia UCC is located at 301 East Broadway Avenue in Ritzville.
