Hille, Stubbs receive FCS scholarships

Northwest Farm Credit Services (FCS) announced the winners of the 2013 Scholarship Program. Forty-three scholarships were given to sons and daughters of Northwest FCS customers and employees in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington; eight high school students and three college students from each state were awarded $1,500 scholarships.

Three employees’ students received $1,500 scholarships and one $1,500 minority scholarship was awarded.

Erik Hille, son of Daniel and Bobbie Sue Hille of Ritzville, received the Washington College Scholarship. He is a senior at Washington State University studying ag technology production management with hopes of becoming a precision ag specialist/entrepreneur.

Matthew Stubbs, son of Michael and Tami Stubbs of LaCrosse, received the Washington High School Scholarship. Stubbs was the ASB vice president, National Honor Society treasurer and FFA vice president. He also participated in his high school’s football, basketball and baseball teams. He plans to attend Colorado State University and study mechanical engineering.

Northwest FCS provides approximately $11 billion in financing and related services to farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, commercial fishermen, timber producers, rural homeowners and crop insurance customers throughout Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.

Northwest FCS is a cooperative and member of the Farm Credit System, a nationwide network of borrower-owned lending institutions that provide approximately $192 billion in loans to rural America.
