The LaCrosse-Washtucna tennis season has come to a close after the regional tournament, as none of the athletes qualified for the state tournament.
Chelsie Kneale, Amber McCaleb and Brooklynn Hostetler all qualified and competed in the regional tournament last week, while teammates Justin Wargo and Lura Potter attended the tournament as alternates.
The highlight of the tournament for the Tigercat team was the success of number two singles player, Hostetler, who was one match away from qualifying for the state tournament. Hostetler is a first year tennis athlete for the team, and her initial success on the court has brought high hopes for her future from head coach Karyn Allen.
Hostetler faced Sydney Spray from Riverside during the final match of the tournament and took the match into three sets, but eventually lost to Spay, 4-4, 6-0, 3-6.
The LW tennis team is hosting the spring awards banquet on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Basset Park in Washtucna.
