April 3, 4:44 p.m. –
Officer Tom Gracie responded to a civil standby request in the 1500 block of Smitty’s Boulevard for a child exchange. Officer Gracie stood by as requested and the exchange was completed without incident.
April 3, 4:35 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible threat in the 100 block of East Second Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the victim who stated their child’s father had called and threatened physical harm. Investigation ongoing.
April 3, 11:49 a.m. –
Chief Dave McCormick responded to a possible traffic accident on Smitty’s Boulevard. Complainant advised of a male subject who ran over the stop sign at Smitty’s and Bauman. The complainant further stated the subject parked and went into Zip’s. Upon Chief McCormick’s arrival, the listed subject and vehicle were gone. The complainant provided photos of the subject to assist in the investigation.
April 2, 7:43 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an agency assist call on Interstate 90 near milepost 224. Officer Gracie assisted Washington State Patrol as needed and cleared.
April 2, 5:45 p.m. – While on patrol, Chief McCormick stopped a vehicle for no front license plates and expired tabs. The driver was contacted and produced a suspended California driver’s license. The subject also had a non-extraditable warrant from the west side of the state for driving while license suspended in the third degree. Chief McCormick cited the driver for no valid driver’s license and no valid insurance. The subject was released and the vehicle was towed.
April 2, 4:28 p.m. –
Chief McCormick responded to a possible narcotic deal in progress on South Palouse Street. Upon arrival, Chief McCormick contacted the complainant who advised they witnessed a subject purchase two baggies of marijuana from another subject. Chief McCormick contacted the subject in question who allowed a voluntary search of their vehicle. Nothing was found and Chief McCormick cleared.
April 2, 4:02 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible juvenile problem on West Railroad Avenue. Upon arrival, Officer Gracie contacted the juveniles who had been in the area with skateboards. Officer Gracie advised the juveniles not to skateboard in the area.
April 2, 1:38 p.m. – Officer Gracie and Chief McCormick responded to a malicious mischief call on South Jackson Street. The complainant advised of a group of juveniles on skateboards in the area and the sound of breaking glass was heard. Upon arrival, the officers contacted the juveniles who stated one of the subjects had dropped a glass bottle causing it to break. The juveniles picked up the glass pieces and deposited them in the trash and the officers cleared.
March 31, 9:36 p.m. –
Officer Hunter Klewin responded to a juvenile problem in the 100 block of East Main Avenue at the movie theater. Upon arrival, the complainant advised of a juvenile subject who attempted to remove the cover on the opening at the ticket window, and when the complainant approached the subject, the subject began to swear at the complainant and walked away.
March 31, 2:57 p.m. – Sergeant Mark Cameron responded to a possible burglary in the 400 block of East Birch Avenue. Upon contact, the complainant advised the shop on the property had been burglarized sometime in the last week or two. The complainant stated they were at the shop on March 20 and 27 and the missing items were there, and when they went back on March 31 they were gone. Sgt. Cameron checked the area around the shop and found no signs of forced entry. Sgt. Cameron requested the complainant compile a list of missing items and the approximate value to add to the report.
March 31, 1:56 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious circumstance in the 300 block of East Fourth Avenue. The complainant stated the female neighbor is outside the house and appears highly intoxicated. The complainant further advised the subject is exposing themselves and there are children in the area that did not need to witness the situation. Sgt. Cameron contacted the female subject on their porch and advised them of the complaint. Sgt. Cameron observed the subject was intoxicated and assisted them into the residence.
March 30, 7:43 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible traffic offense in the 300 block of East Fourth Avenue. Dispatch advised the complainant stated their neighbor seems to be intoxicated while driving their vehicle. Complainant further stated the subject drove the vehicle over the curb and is parked at the residence. Sgt. Cameron arrived and contacted the subject who was parked legally and still in the vehicle. Records check showed the driver as driving while license suspended in the second degree and information was forwarded to Adams County District Court.
March 30, 5:06 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a malicious mischief call on North Division Street. Complainant advised of damage to the ground phone cable junction box. Chief McCormick arrived and observed the box had been kicked and there was a partial print on the front of the box. CenturyLink was advised of the situation.
March 29, 11:04 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible trespassing on East Tenth Avenue at the swimming pool. Washington State Patrol Trooper Carmen Harrington arrived and assisted Sgt. Cameron in locating two subjects located inside the fenced area of the pool. No damage was observed and the Parks and Recreation District was notified of the situation.
March 29, 3:11 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a suspicious person call on Ninth Avenue at the city park. Complainant advised of suspicious subjects in the park. Chief McCormick arrived and observed a family and children on the swings. Chief McCormick further checked the area and did not locate anything suspicious and cleared.
March 29, 2:47 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a suspicious circumstance in the 100 block of West Birch Avenue. Dispatch advised of an injured child and a broken park bench. Chief McCormick contacted the complainant who advised a child was bleeding from a torn fingernail and a portion of the bench had come loose from the cement. The child did not require medical attention and the city clerk’s office was notified about the bench in need of repair.
March 29, 11:17 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to an agency assist call in the 200 block of East Wellsandt Avenue at the high school. Chief McCormick contacted the school and made arrangements to transport a student to East Adams Rural Hospital for medical clearance.
March 28, 5:05 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a custodial interference call on Eleventh Avenue. The complainant asked for assistance in locating their son who they believe to be with a female subject. Chief McCormick made contact with the female subject who stated the complainants’ son is staying with relatives out of the area. Chief McCormick advised the complainant to seek a court order if they fear the child is in danger.
March 27, 3:36 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible harassment call in the 500 block of West First Avenue. Complainant advised their significant other is being harassed and accused of being a pedophile. Complainant requested the harassment to stop. Chief McCormick contacted several subjects identified by the complainant and advised them of the complaint. The subjects denied the harassment accusations and Chief McCormick advised the complainant of the findings.
