The LaCrosse-Washtucna Tigercats met Wilbur-Creston in Ritzville at a neutral site on Saturday, April 27, to battle in the last league match of the season. The Tigercats went home with a 4-1 record, but had to forfeit two matches to WC due to lack of athletes.
The number one singles match took place between Justin Wargo and Jacob Paunovich. Wargo earned the win effortlessly, defeating Paunovich 6-1, 6-0.
On the girls’ side, Lura Potter battled Rhea Castrodale in the number one singles match and also earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory over the WC athlete. Brooklynn Hostetler faced Jane Dasef in the number two singles match and swept the competition by winning 6-0, 6-0.
Amber McCaleb and Chelsie Kneale played in the number one doubles match and defeated Becca Gollehon and Andrea Bilotta in two sets. The girls had to forfeit the number two doubles match to WC.
In the boys’ number one doubles match, Levi Allen and Douglas McKeen fell to Andrew Peterson and Dakotah Niewald, 6-1, 6-0.
The Tigercats played pro-set and mixed doubles competitions against WC to gain more court time and practice for the upcoming Seconds Tournament.
The Tigercats travel back to Ritzville on Friday, May 3, to compete in the Seconds Tournament at 10 a.m. before prepping for the district tournament the week after.
