The Ritzville Lions Club joins with Lions Clubs across Washington and Northern Idaho in the 44th year of White Cane Days campaign, being held from May 3-4.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on these days, club members are asking for contributions to support the sight programs of the Northwest Lions Foundation (NLF), which helps protect and restore sight for kids and adults in the Pacific Northwest.
Ritzville Lions will open the club hall during the two-day campaign and members will visit Starbucks, Harvest Foods and Jake’s Café gathering contributions.
The NLF provides grants to Lions Clubs to assist people in their communities who need treatment for sight loss but cannot afford it. They also offer a program for free health screenings called Lions Health Screening Unit (LHSU), which screens for vision, hearing, glaucoma, diabetes and high blood pressure. Last year the LHSU screened more than 29,000 children and adults.
The Ritzville Lions Club meets at the C.J. Newland American Legion Hall building located at 106 West Broadway Avenue.
