Delbert Emil Conrad Templin died at the age of 91 on Thursday, April 11 at Life Care Center in Ritzville.
He was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Ritzville to Ernest and Elsie Templin, who had migrated to the U.S. as children from Germany. He graduated from Ritzville High School in 1939.
He had a variety of work experiences including Boeing. He proudly served in the Army, which included a wartime tour in the Philippines. He attended local military graveside ceremonies into his 90s to honor veterans.
He was very active in numerous community organizations, serving in officer or board positions. He had a special fondness for the Lions Club and the Ritzville Festivals Association.
He was an avid reader and loved history, especially local. He loved music and often sang along to the radio as he drove the countryside.
He married Lois Bundy in October of 1941, celebrating their 71st anniversary in 2012. The couple built and owned the Circle T Restaurant (Templin’s Grill) in partnership with his brother, Bob Templin.
He also operated a timber and cattle ranch with brother, Chet, and later worked as a real estate broker specializing in farm ranches and commercial property.
He loved the land and lived on the farm until his health deteriorated.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Gary (Vernette) Templin of Ritzville, Sharon (Robert) Loeffler of Redmond, Diane (Warren) Johnson of Walla Walla and Bonnie Templin of Ritzville; grandchildren, Connie, Michael and Curtis Templin, Dayna and Bryan Loeffler and Brandon and Jason Johnson; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Chet (Nina) of Ritzville and Bob (Mary) of Post Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends gratitude to the staff at Life Care Center for their devotion to his care and to relatives and friends that have offered prayers and kindness.
As per his request, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 South Division Street, Ritzville WA 99169, or a charity of choice.
