LR FFA successful at districts

The Lind-Ritzville FFA chapter members have been busy competing in the district Career Development Event (CDE) contests over the past two weeks.

In the creed competition, 10 contestants from District 9 competed for the top three places to earn a trip to state in the FFA Creed Contest. The Lind-Ritzville FFA chapter proved extremely successful and three members are continuing on to the state competition.

Hallie Galbreath placed first overall, followed by a second place finish by Travis Ste. Marie and third place went to Holly Nygren. The students had to recite the creed and answer questions from the judges of the competition.

Only three teams entered the district’s parliamentary procedure contest and the Lind-Ritzville team earned first place to secure a trip to the state competition. Parliamentary procedure team leaders are Taylor White, chairman; Amanda Yockey, secretary; and team members Haley Oestreich, Ashley Ambers, Haley Campbell and Brooke Pichette.

In the rituals and novice parliamentary procedure competition at districts, six teams competed for three spots to go to State FFA Convention. The Lind-Ritzville chapter took two teams to the competition and earned first and second place.

The members of the team earning first place are Andrew Witt, president; Peyton Kiel, vice president; Dylan Becker, secretary; Nick Fleming, treasurer; Emmanuel Huitron, reporter; and Dallas Killian, sentinel.

The members on the second place team are Dane Wahl, president; Dinah Gadberry, vice president; Bryson Gering, secretary; Wyatt Roettger, treasurer; Taylor Kulm, reporter; and Ryan Frederick, sentinel.

Six teams competed at the district level in farm business management and the Lind-Ritzville FFA chapter secured the top two finishes. Members placing individually are Bridger Smith, first high individual; Connor O’Neill, second; Jordan Schultz, third; Ambers, fourth; Logan Morley, fifth; and Tyler Greenwalt, sixth.

In the agronomy contest, eight teams competed and the Lind-Ritzville chapter again earned the top two places. The Lind-Ritzville teams had seven members place in the top 10 as individuals.

Individuals placing in the top 10 are BJ White, first high individual; Frederick, second; Hugh Hennings, third; Matt Leffel, fourth; Cort Ruzicka, fifth; Brian Campbell, sixth; and Dylan Hartz, seventh. Also competing in the agronomy contest is Mariah Kiel.

In the first year member contest, 12 teams competed with Lind-Ritzville teams finishing third and fourth overall. Team one, who finished third, consisted of team members Witt, Gadberry, Kulm and Wahl. For team two, finishing fourth, team members are Alexis Guizar, Ryan Frederick, Skyler Oestreich and Jacob Saetre.
