After Casuela’s Grill closed its doors last month, a mother and daughter team wasted no time in beginning the process to reopen the restaurant. Jessika Wolf and her mother, Lori Gorman-Anderson, plan to open Memories Diner on April 8 and serve a menu filled with American favorites.
Wolf explained it has always been a dream for them to open and manage a restaurant, and now the dream is becoming a reality. Wolf has an extensive background in management, where she has ran restaurants and hotels.
The two are currently working on updating the building and creating more of a diner atmosphere, which consists of repainting, reupholstering the booths and doing overall maintenance on the space.
When the doors officially open next month, Wolf plans to have a grand opening event for community members to attend. In the meantime, the two owners are asking for help from locals to contribute to the Memories Diner theme.
The managers are asking community members to submit historic photos of Ritzville. The photos can be of family members, buildings in the community or of the area surrounding the city. Wolf wants to place the photos under a glass tabletop for customers to enjoy and look at during their meal. Wolf hopes the photos bring back pleasant memories of Ritzville and link the restaurant to historic downtown.
“We want people to bring pictures of something that is special to them,” Wolf said.
Memories Diner is expected to be open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Initially, the diner will be open from 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.
To donate photos to Memories Diner, send or drop off the pictures at 214 West Main Avenue in Ritzville.
