CF Industries’ mini-grants support student learning

Students in the Ritzville School District have an opportunity to learn about ornamental horticulture and landscaping while beautifying the school, engage in hands-on learning about agriculture and research the nutritional benefits of milk production processes because of the CF Industries’ Classroom Mini-grant Program.

CF Industries partnered with Ritzville Schools to offer the mini-grants to teachers who incorporate agriculture or the environment into classroom activities.

CF Industries awarded grants of more than $3,600 to Ritzville Grade School teachers Diane Leffel, Susan Schafer and Carol Templin, and Lind-Ritzville High School teachers Jason Aldrich, Andy Williams, Brad Gering and Donna Koch.

CF Industries has donated more than $700,000 to teachers in schools where CF does business. These donations are a part of CF Industries’ Distribution Facilities’ vision of being an active and positive member of the community. In recent years the company has donated around $600,000 to public safety, education and youth development organizations in Ritzville.

“It is terrific to see the creative teachers’ projects in our area,” said Dennis Schilling, Superintendent of CF Industries’ Ritzville Terminal. “We are excited to see the students learn more about the world around them.”

CF Industries’ Ritzville Terminal has been a part of the community for more than 26 years. Ritzville employees celebrated reaching the 10,000 consecutive safe days, nearly 28 years, milestone in 2011. The facility safely provides quality fertilizer products to farm retailers and industrial customers in the region.
