Harold Bauer

Harold “Hal” Bauer died on Sunday, Jan. 20, in Bothell, Wash.

He was born March 20, 1925, to Harold W. Bauer and Doris Layman Bauer of Ritzville.

After graduating from high school in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific Theatre on the Aircraft Carrier USS Attu (Buglemaster 3rd Class and QM). After attending Washington State University he worked at the Hanford plutonium-producing site, then the Boeing Co. for over 39 years.

He was on the following programs: B-52, 727, 737, Saturn/Apollo, 757, and computer services as safety manager. He retired from corporate. He was active in the Boeing Management Association and the Boy Scouts of America. He was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver Award by the Chief Seattle Council for his service in various district and council positions.

He was said to be a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Billie B .; sons, Scott (Carol), Brian, Steven; grandchildren, Alison and Thomas Bauer; and brother, Donald (Joann) Bauer of Duluth, Minn.

Internment was held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 8.
