The special season of Lent begins this Sunday, and Trinity United Methodist Church (TUMC) is starting a study entitled “Not a Fan,” written by Rev. Kyle Idleman.
This is a six-part series for each Sunday of the six weeks of Lent.
The dictionary defines a fan as “an enthusiastic admirer.” Fans want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires sacrifice. The six-week study helps attendees work on developing and understanding the relationship between Christians and Jesus.
The study challenges those in attendance to consider the true meaning of being called a Christian instead of only be an admirer or a fan.
The special Lenten study is open to the public.
Adult Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. in the TUMC social room, which is immediately followed by the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
TUMC is located at 107 West Second Avenue. For more information, call 659-1783.
