Ritzville Police Report

Jan. 9, 7:32 p.m. –

Sergeant Mark Cameron responded to a suspicious person call in the 200 block of West Main Avenue at Casuela’s Grill. Dispatch advised of multiple complaints regarding a suspicious male that seemed to be having issues. The subject was described as a younger male with a bald head and neck tattoos wearing a white plaid shirt, black leather vest and torn baggy jeans. Dispatch further advised the subject was pacing at the restaurant while talking to himself. Sgt. Cameron and Chief Dave McCormick located the subject on Main Avenue and Palouse Street. The subject advised they were from Spokane and thinking about going south. Sgt. Cameron transported the subject to Jake’s Café in order to catch a ride. After Sgt. Cameron left the subject, dispatch received several calls that the subject was back downtown. Sgt. Cameron and Officer Hunter Klewin searched the area for the subject and were unable to locate him.

Jan. 9, 12:27 p.m. –

Chief McCormick responded to a complaint about panhandlers in the 1500 block of South Bauman Street at the Ritz Food Mart Conoco. Complainant advised of three male subjects in the area panhandling and becoming aggressive. Chief McCormick contacted the subjects and advised them of the complaint. Chief McCormick further advised the subjects to move on and they agreed.

Jan. 8, 9:22 p.m. – While on patrol Sergeant Cameron located a male subject at the intersection of Second Avenue and Cascade Street. Sgt. Cameron recognized the subject and was aware of an active domestic violence no contact order in place. Sgt. Cameron contacted and arrested Ernest Morgan Jr., for violation of the order and booked him into Adams County Jail.

Jan. 8, 6:41 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious 911 hang up call in the 400 block of South Cascade Street at Rose Garden Estates. Sgt. Cameron contacted the residents who advised they were not aware they called 911. The subjects further advised they were fine and did not need assistance. Sgt. Cameron cleared the call.

Jan. 8, 6:36 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious circumstance in the 400 block of South Cascade Street at Rose Garden Estates. Dispatch advised the complainant requests an officer go to Rose Gardens right away because a male subject is being held against his will, in his apartment. Sgt. Cameron contacted the male subject who advised they were fine. At 7:40 p.m. the complainant called again stating there were more people holding this man hostage. Sgt. Cameron contacted the male subject again who advised they are fine and that they want nothing to do with the complainant. Sgt. Cameron contacted the complainant to advise if they cause any more problems they can be arrested.

Jan. 8, 3:21 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a loitering call in the 1500 block of South Bauman Street at the Ritz Food Mart Conoco. Sgt. Cameron observed two male subjects at the corner of Bauman and Smitty’s. They were holding signs and not approaching anyone. Sgt. Cameron made contact with the subjects who advised their motor home had broke down, is at a local shop and in need of $1,000 in parts. The subjects further advised they almost have enough for the parts. Sgt. Cameron cleared.

Jan. 7, 7:57 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron and Officer Klewin responded to a citizen assist in the 500 block of West First Avenue at the Colwell Inn. Dispatch advised a tenant noticed the management office was unlocked and unoccupied. Sgt. Cameron and Officer Klewin entered the lobby and found the manager’s apartment to be unlocked. The officers entered the apartment and determined the manager’s had left with their belongings.

Jan. 7, 4:40 p.m. –

Dispatch advised of a blocking disabled vehicle at a location on South Division Street and East Third Avenue. Sergeant Cameron responded and was unable to locate a disabled vehicle at the location.

Jan. 7, 10:08 a.m. –

Officer Gracie responded to a possible trespassing call in the 500 block of West First Avenue at the Colwell Inn. Officer Tom Gracie contacted three subjects under the employment of the hotel disputing access to the hotel office. Officer Gracie advised the subjects to resolve their work related issues with the hotel owner.

Jan. 7, 8:40 a.m. –

Officer Gracie responded to a possible harassment complaint in the 500 block of West First Avenue at the Colwell Inn. Upon arrival Officer Gracie contacted the hotel managers who advised another employee had harassed them.

Jan. 6, 4:34 p.m. –

Officer Gracie responded to a citizen assist in the 400 block of South Cascade Street at Rose Garden Estates. Dispatch advised a female subject was parked in the parking lot refusing to leave unless she spoke with a male resident. Officer Gracie contacted the subject who advised they had spoken to the resident and were leaving.

Jan. 6, 1:41 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible animal problem in the 100 block of West Cherry Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated people weren’t cleaning up after their dogs in the area. Officer Gracie advised the complainant there would be extra patrols in the area.

Jan. 6, 10:02 a.m. –

Officer Gracie responded to a possible trespass complaint in the 400 block of West First Avenue at the Westside Motel. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated they wanted a male subject trespassed from the property. Officer Gracie informed the complainant that the property manager would need to put the trespass request in writing.

Jan. 5, 2:36 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible animal problem in the 400 block of West Broadway Avenue at Adam’s House Apartments. Upon arrival Chief McCormick contacted the building manager who advised one of the tenants let their dog defecate on the floor in the hall and refuses to clean it up. Chief McCormick advised the complainant this is an issue for the manager or owner to deal with since the city ordinance would not cover this situation.

Jan. 5, 2:22 a.m. – While on patrol Officer Gracie located an open door at Gilson Gym. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the building and nothing appeared to be out of place. Officer Gracie secured the building and returned to patrol.
