Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Based on recent violent events, there is a statewide push to increase safety and security at hospitals and emergency rooms, leading East Adams Rural Hospital to implement a new policy on Jan. 25. The East Adams Rural Hospital Safety Committee has recommended locking and securing the perimeter at the hospital more often to ensure the safety of the patients and staff.
The back and side doors will be locked on evenings and weekends, while the ER doors are open during regular clinic hours but closed on weekends and evenings.
Patients visiting the ER when the doors are locked are prompted to use the buzzer so staff can quickly attend to the patient.
