Pheasants Forever is hosting the 14th annual Pheasants Forever Banquet on Jan. 26 at the C.J. Newland American Legion Hall.Happy hour begins at 5 p.m. followed by a barbequed pork roast and buffet at 7 p.m. with the auction immediately following at 8 p.m.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Kirk Danekas, while the auctioneer is Dr. Warren Kragt.
A silent and live auction will be held for Ringnecks, 18 and under, and a general auction will also take place. Raffle drawings occur throughout the evening, with some items specifically for Ringnecks, and over 100 prizes will be distributed in the dollar raffle.
The Early Bird drawing is available to all individuals who buy a ticket, and turn in their membership and reservation to a committee member by Monday, Jan. 21.
This year, the Pheasants Forever members have been involved in projects such as the on-going hunter education classes in Lind and Ritzville, food source plantings and restoration of guzzlers in existing habitats, brush pile habitats for game birds and rabbits, five gallon bucket grain feeders, youth mentor hunt and field day, youth trapshooting programs in Lind, Ritzville and Washtucna, sponsoring Lind-Ritzville FFA trapshooting teams and co-sponsor of the Ritzville junior triathlon.
Monetary donations also were distributed for a youth trip to Landt’s Sporting Clays, to support the 4-H and FFA exhibitors at the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair, and a $1,500 donation was given to the Lind-Ritzville School District for fishing pole combo’s and tackle for use at Camp Wooten.
In 2012, youth projects in conjunction with the Pheasants Forever “No Child Left Indoors” have been the group’s first priority. As part of the effort to engage more youth, the group hosted the sixth annual youth mentor field day at the Ritzville Gun Club in November.
Hunter education classes continue to be offered by Phil Peterson and LeRoy Watson in Lind and Ritzville, and Pheasants Forever covers the cost of the class to ensure any individual can take the course and practice safe gun handling.
The ticket prices for the event include five types of tickets. A Supporter Ticket costs $20 per person and includes dinner and refreshments. A Membership Ticket is $55 per single and $75 per couple and includes dinner, refreshments and one membership to Pheasants Forever.
A Rambling Rooster membership is $250 and includes dinner for four, refreshments, one membership, two coffee cups, two tickets in Sponsors drawing for a framed print, a ticket for the Early Bird drawing for a framed print, as well as banquet and program recognition.
A Cackler Club membership is $150 and includes one membership, banquet and dinner for two adults, a coffee cup, one ticket in the Sponsors drawing for a framed print, one ticket for the Early Bird drawing for a framed print, as well as a banquet and program recognition.
A Ringneck Membership is $15 and includes dinner and a subscription to the Pheasants Forever magazine.
