Two league wins last weekend were a nice change of pace for the Lady Broncos after a pair of rough outings.
Friday, the Lady Broncos took a 47-42 win over a scrappy Liberty squad. Saturday, they ran away from Springdale, 52-38.
“We took care of business against Liberty,” head coach John Galbreath said. “We didn’t play our best basketball. We did a better job of rebounding and getting loose balls. I thought our defensive effort was better.”
In the outing Jenna Bennett led the team with 16 points and seven steals. Dalyn Killian added nine points and eight rebounds. Mallory Kessler scored eight, with four rebounds and two steals. Brooke Pichette scored five points with four rebounds and two steals. Randi York and Haley Oestreich each scored four points. Maya Wahl had one point.
The Springdale game was a good outing for the Lady Broncos.
“I really looked forward to that game,” Galbreath said. “Springdale has some good wins, including over Davenport. I thought match up wise it would be a really tough game.”
Pichette led the team with 13 points. Killian kicked in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kessler served up nine points of her own. Sydney Nelson scored six points while Wahl and Bennett each had four points. Christine Lamping scored three and York had one point.
“Our defensive intensity was a lot better,” Galbreath said. “I’m extremely happy with the effort."
