Dec. 14, 12:03 a.m. – While on patrol Deputy Jeffery Lane located an open door on East Booth Avenue in Washtucna, at the school. No entry to the main building was made. Property owner will be notified.
Dec. 13, 9:10 a.m. – Burlington Northern Railroad advised of a subject wearing a green hooded sweatshirt walking along the railroad tracks near Highway 21 and State Route 395. Subject was seen heading west from Lind. Deputy Ben Buriak checked the area of Lind and along SR395 and did not locate anyone in the area trespassing.
Dec. 12, 11:47 p.m. – While on patrol Deputy Lane found an open door on North E Street in Lind at the middle school. Dep. Lane cleared the building and advised the responsible of the situation. Dep. Lane secured the building and cleared.
Dec. 12, 6:35 p.m. – Odessa complainant advised of 800 loose steers in the area of East Davis Road in Harrington. Complainant further advised some steers have been located near Adams County line on Davis Road. Complainant left contact information if the sheriff’s office receives calls about the issue.
Dec. 12, 3:08 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a turquoise colored flatbed pickup in the area of East Rosenoff Road and North Bauer Road, pulling into driveways. Vehicle was last seen heading towards Rosenoff Road. Deputy Buriak checked the area and did not locate the vehicle.
Dec. 12, 2:46 p.m. – Complainant from Montana called the sheriff’s office in reference to a possible assault that occurred in 2010 in Lind. Complainant advised Deputy Buriak, their back was broken by a female, who resided in Lind, while moving a stove. Complainant wants to press charges. Complainant was advised statement forms would be mailed out since they reside in Montana.
Dec. 12, 1:43 p.m. – Deputy Buriak was advised of a panic alarm at a location on South Main Street in Washtucna. While en route Dep. Buriak was advised everything was okay and the alarm was set off by accident. Dep. Buriak contacted the responsible to verify everything was fine and cleared.
Dec. 12, 1:24 p.m. – Moses Lake complainant advised of an animal problem call on North Marcellus Road in Ritzville. Complainant advised while delivering packages a dog bit the complainant in the arm. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant at the sheriff’s office and observed a quarter sized bite mark on the left forearm of the complainant. Dep. Buriak contacted the dog owner to ensure it had all its shots. The dog is a black and brown Rottweiler/Shepherd mix.
Dec. 12, 7:30 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a vehicle versus dog collision at a location on North Paha-Packard Road. Deputy Buriak responded to the scene and later dispatched the dog. It was determined the collision was reportable.
Dec. 11, 10:31 a.m. – Odessa complainant called and reported they observed two suspicious vehicles in the area of North Batum Road and West Tokio Road. Complainant requested contact. Deputy Buriak contacted the complainant who advised of an older white passenger van with a winch attached to the back of it and a silver colored GM crew cab pickup were seen in the area. No license plate numbers were obtained. Complainant advised they spoke with other farmers in the area and one had property taken from the suspicious subjects. Complainant wanted the sheriff’s office to be aware of the vehicles and requests extra patrols in the area.
Dec. 11, 8:36 a.m. – Lind complainant advised of an elderly looking male subject with a bag, walking along West Schrag Road and North Deal Road. Deputy Buriak contacted the subject who advised they were headed to Idaho. The subject was advised to stay off the highways and stay on county roads. Subject advised they understood and continued on their way.
Dec. 11, 1:55 a.m. – While on patrol Deputy Dan Verhey located an open door during a building check on East Second Street in Lind. Dep. Verhey checked the building and secured the door.
Dec. 10, 3:14 p.m. – Complainant from Ephrata advised of a traffic collision that occurred on private property near West Davis Road in Odessa. Deputy Aaron Madison advised the complainant to contact law enforcement in their area to complete a collision report.
Dec. 10, 2:55 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of an unknown subject that threw large rocks onto their gravel driveway on West Main Street. Complainant further advised they wanted the incident documented and the sheriff’s office aware of the situation.
Dec. 10, 9:49 a.m. – Ritzville Fire requested agency assistance with traffic control for a fully engulfed vehicle fire on East Rosenoff Road and North Schoonover Road. Deputy Buriak contacted Sergeant Brian Taylor and advised him of the request. Sgt. Taylor approved the request and Dep. Buriak responded to the call. Dep. Buriak provided traffic control until Public Works took over.
Dec. 9, 2:30 p.m. – Ritzville complainant reported a trespassing incident that occurred the day before.
A subject was observed shooting a pheasant and trespassing on the complainant property near West Rosenoff Road and North Moody Road. Complainant recorded license plate. Deputy Buriak called the owner of the vehicle to investigate. Dep. Buriak called the complainant and advised who the subject is. Complainant advised they no longer wished to pursue the matter.
Dec. 9, 3:09 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a suspicious white pickup traveling in the area of East Sackman Road. Deputy Lane checked the area and was unable to locate any white pickup or subjects spot lighting in the area.
