Turkey Trot deemed a success

Trotters of all ages came out Thanksgiving morning for the 25th anniversary run of the Turkey Trot. Mike and Harriet Lynch awarded prizes before starting off in front of the New Ritz Theatre.

The Great Feather award for the most colorful or, in this case the most spirited, participant went to the team of Veronica Salazar and Tina Arnett. They were each decked out in tall Pilgrim hats.

Largest Brood award went to the Danekas family of Kirk, Ami, Debbie, Darrin, Sadra and Grayson. Also weighing in for largest brood was the Powers-Patterson tribe of Dave, Sally, Christine, John Powers and Chuck, Andrea, Emma and Sam Patterson.

Picking up the award for Trotter from Afar was Christine Powers of Boise, who promptly passed her prize to fellow Boise native, Kim Benzel Valley. Valley did the trot with her sister-in-law Stacey Hamernik Benzel.

Youngest Trotter award, seated in her stroller, was Jordan Saetre, who brought along grandfather John, aunt Heather Hunt and mom Ann Marie Hunt Saetre.

The Silver Feather award, the battery pack, went to Dean Sutherland, accompanied by his daughter Paula Coon. Dean keeps all systems running, knowing that Bloomsday is never far away.

Great Fowl award to the seediest character went to Chris Johnson accompanied by his lovely wife Vicky.

Picking up her prize as the first to make the three-mile circuit was Ariana Salazar, one fast turkey.
