Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
A night of awards and celebration, with a theme of “East Meets West,” takes place at the annual Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Community Recognition Night and Auction on Saturday, Nov. 17, in the C.J. Newland American Legion Hall.
The night begins with a social hour and silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the auction and award ceremony. Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at the Visitors’ Center, Columbia Bank and Sterling Bank.
The meal is catered by Blue Bike Catering and includes a menu of orange chicken, broccoli beef, fried rice, Kung Pao steamed vegetables, egg rolls with sweet chili sauce, tossed salad with mandarin oranges and slivered almonds with chocolate cake and caramel sauce for dessert.
During the awards ceremony, 12 different individuals will be recognized for their positive impact on the community. Awards being distributed are for volunteer, emergency first responder, four students, two educators, business, employee and farmer, of the year.
Auction item highlights for the auction include a $250 gift card to the Coeur d’Alene Resort, two tickets for the West Side Story production, and a handmade quilt by Yvonne Anderson.
The event serves as the chamber’s main fundraising activity and helps maintain the Ritzville Art Gallery and Visitors’ Center.
Proceeds raised at the 2011 event helped fund the reconstruction of the chamber’s website, http://www.visitritzville.com.
Proceeds from this year’s event directly support the continued maintenance of the website, producing a community brochure, operating the art gallery, expanding advertising and promotion of Ritzville, staffing the visitors’ center and developing new chamber member services.
