Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Lind Community Church (LCC) Women’s Fellowship group will hold the 30th annual Election Day Soup Supper and Auction on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the LCC fellowship hall.
Five varieties of soup are on the menu, in addition to salad, bread and homemade pies. Food is served from 5-6:30 p.m. and the cost of the meal is $7 for adults, and $3 for children six and under. The live auction begins at 6:30 p.m., with Dr. Warren Kragt and Grant Miller serving as auctioneers. One of the returning featured items at the auction is a pieced quilt made and donated by Lenora Sackmann.
The first Election Day Soup Supper was in 1980 with the auction being added in 1990. The largest attendance on record was 250 people in 1982, and in recent years, the attendance has been between 130 to 160 people from all over the area including Lind, Connell, Warden, Ritzville and Washtucna.
According to Women’s Fellowship president, Sue Sackmann, “It would not be possible for us to continue without the help of our community friends, relatives and all our church members.”
This is the only fundraiser for the group and a portion of the income helps maintains the Fellowship Hall, which is used for many functions in the community. The event also funds mission projects that include local support to the EMT’s, coats, gloves and hats for school children and other local needs in addition to donations to Operation Christmas Child, Crosswalk, Ronald McDonald House, Union Gospel Mission and Ogden Hall in Spokane.
The LCC is located at 114 East Fifth Street in Lind.
