The LaCrosse-Washtucna Lady Tigercats played in the last, regularly scheduled, league game against Colton on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Colton. The Lady Tigercats lost in three sets, with scores of 13-25, 8-25, 19-25.
“The girls did a wonderful job. They played with enthusiasm and worked hard as a team. I was very pleased with the way our girls played. Colton has a strong team and can be quite intimidating, yet our girls were up for the challenge,” head coach Sarah Mayer said.
The final game leaves the Lady Tigercats with a 3-7 record in the league, and places them sixth in the league. Colton is second in the Southeast 1B league with a record of 7-1.
Logan Harder led the team both on offense and defense, as she earned five kills and 13 digs during the three sets. Ashtyn Aune accumulated eight assists during the game, leading the team in assists for the evening.
Kadie Whinery’s consistency continued on serving and blocking, as she was able to earn three aces and three blocks.
As a team, the Lady Tigercats earned 14 kills, 12 assists, 34 digs, seven aces and five blocks during the final league game.
The team plays a non-league match on Thursday, Oct. 25, against Tri-Cities Prep in LaCrosse beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity game being played first.
A playoff game on Monday, Oct. 29, decides if the team moves forward into the district competition. The location, time and opposing team was still unknown at press time.
