Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
I’m writing to express my support for John Marshall, candidate for Adams County Commissioner, District 1; the position held by Rudy Plager for 12 years (3 terms). I’ve known and worked with both men when I was an Adams County Commissioner and on Boards and Committees since the mid-1990s, including as the citizen representative for Adams County on the locally controlled Columbia Basin Ground Water Management Area (GWMA).
I worked with John when he was a member of the Ritzville City Council, and the County Health District Board and Solid Waste Advisory Committee, and knew him as a local businessman.
I can attest to his straightforward manner, willingness to listen, ability to understand complex issues, and aptitude for common sense. John recognizes that solutions are often found through a process of factual assessment and reasoned discussion, less influenced by political demands.
John’s personal demeanor is professional, direct and friendly. There’s nothing stuffy, hidden or contrived about him, and I think that’s important for local citizens or anyone who meets or works with the Board of Commissioners.
One last point: County governments are responsible to determine water availability and water supply for building permits, land divisions, and water right transfers. One of the most important issues before us today is the future of our water supply. Declining deep basalt aquifers pose a significant threat to farms, cities and towns.
For these and other important reasons, I strongly encourage citizens to vote for John Marshall for Adams County Commissioner, District 1.
