Judson R. Parkins

Judson “Jud” R. Parkins passed away at the age of 65 on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley after a three-year battle with cancer.

He was born to Anna and Edward Parkins in Yakima, Wash. on Dec. 25, 1946. He grew up in Ephrata and graduated from Ephrata High School in 1965. He attended Washington State University where he received a degree in education in 1969. He had a 40-year teaching career that included coaching many sports.

He taught his last 32 years at Lind High School. Even after retirement in 2008, he continued to substitute teach in Lind.

All of his life he loved sports, both as a fan and participant. He especially loved to follow his WSU Cougars. There was nothing more important to him than family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Edward.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeannine of Lind; seven children, Charity (Ray) Gunderson of Phoenix, Ariz., Jacob Parkins of Lind, Jolee Lobe of Ephrata, Jemara (Brad) Floyd of Davenport, James (Kylie) Lasen of Ritzville, Josh (Katie) Lasen of Lind, and Jennae (Trevor) Wilson of Kennewick; sister, Claudia (Glenn) Parkins of Spokane Valley; brothers, Edward (Lindy) Parkins of Yakima, and Ervin (Cassandra) Parkins of Spokane Valley; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is to be held at the Good Hope Lutheran Church, 120 W 3rd Street in Lind, on Friday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mary Daniels officiating, followed by a reception.
