Sept. 4, 2:51 p.m. – Officer Tom Gracie responded to a found property call in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at the Taco del Mar. Complainant advised the passport had been left there sometime during the last week. Dispatch located contact information for the owner of the passport. Officer Gracie made arrangements with the owner to retrieve the passport.
Sept. 4, 11:20 a.m. – Chief Dave McCormick responded to a citizen assist call in the 1600 block of Smitty’s Blvd at the Ritzville Roadhouse. Complainant advised they had a subject there that is not a customer, requesting a ride to Portland. Chief McCormick checked the area and was unable to locate the subject.
Sept. 4, 7:47 a.m. – Dispatch advised of two black Lab looking dogs running at large near the 200 block East Seventh Avenue. Animal control officer Scott Carruth checked the area and was unable to locate any animals at large.
Sept. 3, 9:02 p.m. – Officer Hunter Klewin responded to a possible traffic hazard on West Main Avenue and North Adams Street. Dispatch advised of a male subject that ran out of gas and is partially blocking the intersection. Upon contact Officer Klewin observed a subject pushing their vehicle to the curb near Washington. The vehicle was moved and legally parked on Main. The subject advised they would walk home and bring gas for the vehicle in the morning.
Sept. 3, 5:29 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a suspicious persons call in the 500 block of West Fourth Avenue. Complainant advised of a white minivan in the area and the occupants of the vehicle are taking pictures of the complainant house. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and was unable to locate the described vehicle.
Sept. 3, 4:21 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an abandoned vehicle call in the 200 block of North Turner Street. Complainant advised of three vehicles on their property that are junk vehicles. Officer Gracie inspected the vehicles and provided hulk vehicle forms for the complainant.
Sept. 2, 4:03 p.m. – Dispatch advised of an unresponsive male subject in the 500 block of East First Avenue. Sgt. Mark Cameron responded along with the ambulance. Upon arrival, the subject was woken up and responsive. Subject advised they were fine and refused medical attention. The residents in the area advised they wanted the subject to leave. Sgt. Cameron advised the subject to leave. As the subject left Sgt. Cameron observed the subject having a difficult time walking but could not determine if the subject was under the influence of any intoxicants. Sgt. Cameron contacted the subject’s mother who advised the subject has moved out of the house and isn’t allowed back there. A short time later the mother called back advising she received a call from the subject’s landlord stating the subject was walking around the trailer park saying they see little green men. The mother advised she did not want the subject to return to her place. Sgt. Cameron advised the mother the subject would need the help of a detox center or a mental health professional. Sgt. Cameron provided the mother with contact numbers.
Sept. 2, 2:04 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a possible trespassing call in the 600 block of West First Avenue at the Harvest Foods. Complainant advised of a group of kids from a bus in the parking lot that were climbing on the railroad cars. Sgt. Cameron did not locate the vehicle or subjects. Deputy Dan Verhey advised by radio that the vehicle was seen headed southbound on Division shortly after the call. Sgt. Cameron checked the areas by the freeway and was still unable to locate the vehicle.
Sept. 1, 11:57 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a possible drunk driver near East Second Avenue and South Palouse Street. Sgt. Cameron responded and observed the vehicle parked on Washington Street, just south of Main Avenue. Sgt. Cameron observed the registered owner walking towards the Pastime. Sgt. Cameron did not make contact since the subject was not driving.
Sept. 1, 10:54 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the 400 block of Jefferson at Pru Field. Complainant advised of a vehicle parked by an out building. Sgt. Cameron and Officer Klewin checked the area and were unable to locate any vehicles.
Sept. 1, 5:30 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to an agency assist call in the 800 block of East Main Avenue at the Wheat Land Communities Fairgrounds. Complainant advised of a disorderly subject offering beer to teenagers. Sgt. Cameron assisted Deputy Verhey in locating the subject who was obviously intoxicated. The subject was warned about their behavior. Later in the night, Chief McCormick was off duty and advised he saw the subject in the beer garden at the rodeo arena. The subject was still intoxicated and Chief McCormick advised the on-duty bartenders of the situation. They advised they wouldn’t serve the subject any more this evening.
Aug. 31, 9:51 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a barking dog call in the 500 block of West Fourth Avenue. The complainant advised the barking dog issue is an ongoing problem. Officer Klewin contacted the dog owner and warned them to keep the dogs quiet. The owner advised they would be finding a different home for the dogs soon.
Aug. 31, 9:45 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the 100 block of East First Avenue. Complainant advised the vehicle that is parked there with the dome lights on and two juvenile males were seen around the vehicle. Officer Klewin checked the area and did not locate anyone nearby. Officer Klewin observed the car was unlocked and the dome light was on. Officer Klewin did not observe any damage to the car. Dispatch advised there was no phone number listed to contact the registered owner.
Aug. 31, 8:21 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a nuisance all in the 500 block of West Fourth Avenue. Officer Klewin contacted the complainant who advised they had been woken up at 3:30 a.m. by the dogs barking. Officer Klewin observed the barking and contacted the listed owners. The subjects were warned to keep their dogs from disturbing the neighbors.
Aug. 31, 6:17 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a possible traffic hazard call on South Division Street and Smitty’s Blvd. Officer Klewin arrived and observed a pickup pulling a boat trailer blocking Smitty’s Blvd. WSP Trooper Randall Elkins was already on scene. Trooper Elkins advised he provided the owner of the pickup with phone numbers to the local tow companies. A citizen with a pickup offered to tow the truck. Officer Klewin provided traffic control while the truck was towed to the parking area east of Zips.
Aug. 31, 3:13 p.m. – While on patrol Sgt. Cameron received radio notification of a subject at the fairs corn maze with a knife. Sgt. Cameron met Deputy Ned Bernath at the maze and upon investigation determined the subject with the knife was there earlier in the day.
Aug. 31, 11:59 a.m. – Sgt. Cameron spoke with a complainant by phone who advised they were on their way to Ellensburg for a child exchange under a Thurston County parenting plan and the other parent is unable to make the exchange due to being at work. Complainant requested advise on what should be done. Sgt. Cameron advised the complainant this is a civil issue and they should call the court that issued the parenting plan and notify them of the situation.
Aug. 31, 9:11 a.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a suspicious person call in the 100 block of East First Avenue at Sterling Bank. Complainant advised of a white male, mid-30s, balding, wearing a tank top, shorts and sunglasses walking east on First and behaving suspiciously. Sgt. Cameron thoroughly checked the area and was unable to locate the subject.
Aug. 30, 9:24 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron and Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the 400 block of North Jefferson at Pru Field. Dispatch advised of a suspicious vehicle parked near a small out building. Sgt. Cameron and Officer Klewin checked the area and did not find any vehicles on or near the airport.
Aug. 30, 2:16 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a suspicious person call on East Second Avenue and South Columbia Street. Complainant advised of a male subject loitering outside the church for the past hour. Sgt. Cameron contacted the subject who advised they were waiting for their mother and that they had stopped at the church to find the beeping phone in their backpack and they had not been there an hour. The mother arrived on scene and Sgt. Cameron cleared.
Aug. 30, 1:27 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible traffic accident in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at Starbucks. The complainant advised they were parked in the parking lot while at Starbucks, when an unknown subject struck the left front of the complainants’ vehicle causing minor damage to the bumper. A witness advised a white delivery type van had struck the vehicle and left in an unknown direction.
Aug. 29, 11:58 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a subject in a vehicle traveling to a residence in Ritzville in which there is a no contact order in place. Officer Gracie responded to the 1000 block of Pine Avenue and located the subject vehicle parked in the driveway. Officer Gracie did not observe any subjects driving toward Ritzville and cleared.
Aug. 29, 7:08 p.m. – Complainant requested phone contact regarding a personal property issue. Sgt. Cameron attempted to contact the complainant and got no answer. The complainant called back and advised they are paying for a cell phone that they would like to get back from another subject. Sgt. Cameron advised the complainant to contact the subject and ask for the phone back or to take the subject to small claims court.
Aug. 29, 2:47 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a hazardous condition call in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at Bob’s Chevron. Complainant advised of a gas spill from a punctured fuel tank. Sgt. Cameron made contact with the driver of the vehicle who advised they believed they drove over a large screwdriver leaving Idaho on I-90 and it got stuck in the bottom of his tank. Sgt. Cameron observed the screwdriver in the fuel tank and the leaking fuel. It was estimated that approximately 12 gallons of fuel was in the tank before the pump was shut off due to the leak. Sgt. Cameron cleared the area to allow the fire department on scene.
Aug. 29, 1:47 a.m. – Officer Gracie received radio dispatch of a subject waiting in the Sheriffs Department lobby. Officer Gracie made contact with the subject who advised they wanted to file a theft complaint for an incident that occurred in White Center. Officer Gracie advised the subject to contact law enforcement in that area to file the complaint.
Aug. 28, 10:26 p.m. – While on patrol Officer Gracie observed a door standing open in the 100 block of East Tenth Avenue at the golf course. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and found no one. Officer Gracie requested dispatch contact the responsible.
Aug. 28, 3:42 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a possible domestic in progress in the 100 block of East Main Avenue at the Purple Store. Sgt. Cameron arrived on scene and made contact with three subjects who advised they were fine and it was just a verbal argument. All parties had cooled down and Sgt. Cameron cleared.
Aug. 28, 11:55 a.m. – Complainant requested contact regarding the theft of their guitar. Chief McCormick responded to the 100 block of West Sixth Avenue where the complainant advised they had lent a black Estabon Acoustical guitar to a friend. The subject took the guitar to Seattle and it was stolen while the subjects’ vehicle was impounded and now the subject cannot afford to replace the guitar valued at $200 and the case valued at $80. Chief McCormick advised the complainant it was a civil matter and they should contact the district court to look into a small claims action.
Aug. 28, 8:15 a.m. – Alarm activated in the 1600 block of Smitty’s Blvd at Cow Creek. Dispatch spoke to an employee who advised the alarm had been accidentally set off and they are attempting to disarm it. Dispatch contacted the responsible that advised the same.
Aug. 27, 10:57 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a noise complainant on East Seventh Avenue and South Division Street. Upon contact, no loud music was observed in the area. Officer Klewin contacted the complainant who denied calling dispatch and claimed they did not file a noise complaint.
Aug. 27, 10:47 p.m. – While on patrol Officer Klewin observed a subject squeal their tires on Galbreath Way. Officer Klewin stopped the vehicle and the subject was found to be driving under the influnce and booked into Adams County Jail.
Aug. 27, 12:30 p.m. – While on patrol Sgt. Cameron observed two juveniles near East Sixth Avenue and South Palouse Street smoking a cigarette. Both juveniles were cited for possession of tobacco and the school principal was notified of the situation.
Aug. 27, 11:33 a.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a found property call in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at Sun Mart. Complainant advised that a customer had left a book and a doorbell ringer when they left the store. Sgt. Cameron contacted the subject and returned the property.
Aug. 26, 11:40 p.m. – While on patrol Officer Klewin found a sliding gate open in the 700 block of West First Avenue at Ritzville Lumber. Officer Klewin requested dispatch notify the responsible of the situation.
Aug. 26, 11:39 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a citizen assist in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. The subject requested to borrow a flashlight and wanted to leave their drivers license and a kitten as collateral. Officer Klewin escorted the subject home and assisted them in locating their flashlight.
Aug. 26, 4:56 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a possible juvenile problem in the 800 block of North Division Street. The complainant advised some juveniles were cutting through a neighbor’s backyard. When the complainant confronted the juveniles to advise them they were on private property, one of them became argumentative. The complainant advised they notified the homeowner of the situation. Sgt. Cameron advised the complainant to call the police if the juveniles return to the area.
Aug. 26, 2:27 p.m. – Sgt. Cameron responded to a noise complaint on East Seventh Avenue. Upon arrival Sgt. Cameron thoroughly searched the area, including into the alley and did not hear any loud music or vulgar language. Sgt. Cameron cleared the scene.
Aug. 25, 11:55 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a possible harassment call in the 100 block of East Seventh Avenue. Upon contact the complainant advised they had been served an illegal eviction notice from their landlord and the neighbors in the downstairs apartment continue to harass and make fun of the complainant. Officer Klewin advised the complainant to resolve the eviction issue they would need to go to court. Officer Klewin contacted the neighbors that advised they were outside talking at a normal volume and had not contacted the complainant. Officer Klewin advised both parties to stop all contact with each other.
Aug. 25, 11:33 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a possible traffic hazard in the 200 block of South Adams Street. Dispatch advised of two vehicles in the alley. Officer checked the vehicles and found they were unoccupied. Officer Klewin contacted a female subject in the area who advised they were her and her friends’ car. Both vehicles were parked legally and not blocking traffic in the alley.
Aug. 25, 8:31 p.m. – Dispatch received a request for contact regarding a noise complainant in the 300 block of East Alder Avenue. Officer Klewin contacted the complainant by phone that advised they heard what sounded like a vehicle spinning their tires in the gravel. Complainant further advised when they opened their door they observed a lot of dust in the air. Complainant provided Officer Klewin with a vehicle description. Officer Klewin patrolled the area and did not observe any violations.
Aug. 25, 7:59 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the 300 block of West Second Avenue. Complainant advised of an unknown blue vehicle in the area and a male subject that was observed ducking behind the fence. Officer Klewin contacted the neighbor that advised they had a friend visiting and had just left in a blue car. Everything was fine.
Aug. 25, 6:44 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a traffic hazard in the 200 block of East Broadway Avenue. Complainant advised of a white vehicle driving at a high rate toward First Avenue. Officer Klewin checked the area and did not locate a vehicle matching the description.
Aug. 25, 5:38 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a citizen assist call in the 200 block of East Alder. Complainant rambled on for a time about an issue they had with law enforcement in the Seattle area. Chief McCormick advised the complainant to refer back to the agency in which they have the issue with.
Aug. 25, 5:26 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to an animal problem in the 100 block of East Birch Avenue. Upon contact the complainant advised that someone had tortured a kitten and killed it and that they had found a second deceased kitten in the back yard. Chief McCormick inquired as to how many cats are on the property and the complainant advised they feed approximately 13-15 cats in the neighborhood. Chief McCormick advised the complainant to stop feeding the wild cats or they would be cited for having too many animals. Chief McCormick also advised the complainant to secure their garage and stop feeding them.
Aug. 25, 2:41 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to an animal problem in the 500 block of South Adams Street. Complainant requested a skunk trap. Chief McCormick dropped off the trap as requested and the complainant advised they would return it when they are done.
Aug. 25, 10:37 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to an agency assist call in the 500 block of West First Avenue at the Colwell Motor Inn. CPS requested help with a welfare check and possible child removal.
It was determined the children were not in danger or neglected and the case was being transferred to Moses Lake.
Aug. 25, 2:57 a.m. – While on patrol Officer Klewin observed the shed door open at the Palouse end of the golf course near the fuel pumps. Officer Klewin requested dispatch contact the responsible.
Officer Klewin searched the area and did not notice anything out place and cleared.
