Spending money on ‘wants’ not needs

Kudos to Barry Boyer that he sees the true impact of Project 56! I, as he, believe that school levies to support our student needs is a community responsibility. Need is the key word not “want!”

Project 56 is a “want” because if it was a “need” it would have been on the ballot shortly after it’s introduction 10 plus years ago. Petitions are the norm to give the public insight to why certain projects should be given voters choice.

Recently the City of Ritzville spent monies for a skateboard park for the kids to keep them from skateboarding on the downtown sidewalks. Did it work? I live on Main Street and sidewalk skateboarding is still popular among local skateboarders. Which means Ritzville did not “need” a skateboard park but yet the powers to be “wanted it!” The monies should have went to Project 56!

I very well may be taxed for this years school levy to “Support Our Kids” for I have not yet found a way as others on how to hide my money!

Jim Lisk, Ritzville
