Joyce Werttemberger Jolley

Joyce W. Jolley died peacefully at her home in Bellevue, on Thursday, Aug. 9, after a brief illness.

She was born Joyce Allene Werttemberger on Jan. 29, 1931, to Richard and Mildred Werttemberger, in Seattle. Her father, Dick, grew up in Ritzville and she had many fond memories of visiting her grandfather and aunt and uncles at the family farm. She grew up in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, where as a teenager, she worked at her parents’ Magnolia Pharmacy.

She attended Queen Anne grade school and graduated from St. Nicholas School in 1949. At the University of Washington she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority; after graduating from the School of Dental Hygiene in 1954, she began an over 50 year career as a dental hygienist.

In August 1957, she married Jack Jolley; they lived most of their lives in Bellevue where they raised five children. She loved to travel and had grand adventures around the world with Jack and with many great friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack in December 2004.

She is survived by her brother, Dick (Yvonne) Werttemberger; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jolley; children, Jack (Pam), Elizabeth, Monica (Larry) VanOver, Bill (Margo), and Sheila (Zeljko) Pavlic; eight grandchildren, Jack and Will Jolley, Duncan and Claire Mackenzie, Lucija Pavlic, and Layla, Ben and Lee Roy Jolley; eight nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service is to be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery at 1 p.m. Danekas Funeral Home of Ritzville has been entrusted with arrangements.
