Ritzville Police Report

Aug. 8, 2:16 a.m. – While on patrol Officer Hunter Klewin discovered an open door to a building in the 200 block of West Main Avenue. Officer Klewin checked the interior doors and all were secure. Officer Klewin searched the building and did not locate anyone. The responsible arrived and secured the door.

Aug. 7, 5:35 p.m. – Sergeant Mark Cameron responded to a possible domestic in the 400 block of East Birch Avenue. Complainant advised they had been assaulted by a male juvenile. The unidentified subject was taken into custody for assault in the fourth degree domestic violence and held at the jail until Martin Hall could respond.

Aug. 7, 4:21 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a 45-year-old male having a seizure at 6 South Jefferson Street at Pete’s Garage. Sergeant Cameron responded. Upon arrival there were five EMTs on scene so Sgt. Cameron cleared.

Aug. 7, 3:10 p.m. – Agency assistance was requested by CPS for a standby during a client meeting. Sergeant Cameron made arrangements for CPS to use a conference room for their meeting.

Aug. 7, 2:53 p.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a possible burglary in the 100 block of East Fifth Avenue. Complainant advised their lock had been removed from the building and replaced with another one. Upon investigation the complainant noticed items were missing.

Aug. 7, 10:43 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious circumstance in the 400 block of West Sixth Avenue. Upon contact the complainant advised they had received a phone call from an unknown subject that stated the complainant had a grandson that was in jail and in need of $1,800 in bail money. Complainant further advised they did not give the caller money and thought it was a scam. Upon investigation Sgt. Cameron determined the call came from a Los Angeles number.

Aug. 7, 10:34 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a vehicle prowl complaint in the 400 block of East Birch Avenue. Sgt. Cameron contacted the complainant who advised that an unknown subject had entered their vehicle that was parked on the street in front of their house, and taken their knife.

Aug. 6, 9:28 p.m. – Officer Tom Gracie responded to a citizen dispute on North Jackson Street and West Broadway Avenue. Complainant advised of a verbal dispute and they wanted their significant other to leave the residence.

Aug. 6, 3:12 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a citizen assist needed in the 100 block of South Division Street. Officer Klewin and Sgt. Cameron responded and were assisted by Trooper Randall Elkins as needed.

Aug. 6, 1:04 p.m. – Dispatch advised of a small child alone in a gray van parked in the 200 block of West Broadway Avenue. Officer Klewin responded and found no one to be inside the van or in the area.

Aug. 6, 12:30 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible missing person in the 400 block of East Birch Avenue. Complainant advised of a runaway juvenile. Sgt. Cameron contacted Adams County Juvenile and advised them of the situation.

Aug. 6, 9:36 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a burglary alarm in the 200 block of West Tenth Avenue. Sgt. Cameron responded and attempted contact but no one answered the door. Sgt. Cameron conducted a sweep of the house and the shop and found the main shop door to be unlocked. Sgt. Cameron locked the door and cleared.

Aug. 6, 2:06 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a noise complaint in the 200 block of East Ninth Avenue. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and did not locate barking dogs.

Aug. 5, 7:53 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an open door at a building in the 400 block of East First Avenue. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and was unable to locate anyone.

Aug. 5, 5:56 p .m. – Officer Klewin responded to a harassment call in the 200 block of East Alder Avenue. The complainant advised of receiving harassing text messages. Officer Klewin contacted both parties and determined both were responsible for the threatening and harassing messages. Both were warned to stop.

Aug. 5, 10:43 a.m. – Agency assistance was requested in the 200 block of East Birch Avenue for a standby to remove property. Officer Klewin responded and advised the complainant this was a civil matter.

Aug. 5, 10:12 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a vehicle prowl in the 100 block of East Second Avenue. Complainant advised of oxygen equipment that had been taken out of their car during the night. While en route the complainant called back to advise that a family member had borrowed the equipment and now returned it.

Aug. 4, 10:31 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible animal problem in the 500 block of East First Avenue. Officer Gracie located a dog running at large and found it to have no tags. Officer Gracie transported the dog to the city pound. At 12:05 a.m. the dog’s owner called to report the dog missing. Officer Gracie released the dog to its owner.

Aug. 4, 9:45 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a noise complaint in the area of West Third Avenue and Jackson Street. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area but did not locate anyone.

Aug. 4, 9:49 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a nuisance call on West Main Avenue and North Lincoln Street. Complainant advised of a noise complaint. Officer Gracie contacted a group of subjects gathered in a front yard and advised them of the complaint.

Aug. 2, 10:14 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a citizen dispute in the 200 block of East Birch Avenue. Complainant advised they lent an air conditioner to a neighbor and now the neighbor won’t give it back. Sgt. Cameron contacted the apartment manager who advised they are in the process of evicting the neighbor in question.

Aug. 2, 1:50 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an unsecured door in the 900 block of South Adams Street at East Adams Rural Hospital. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and did not find anyone suspicious. Hospital staff secured the door and Officer Gracie cleared.

Aug. 1, 5:57 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible juvenile problem in the 400 block of East Birch Avenue. Complainant advised of a juvenile that had left the residence without permission. Officer Gracie located the juvenile walking south on Division Street at Broadway. Officer Gracie returned the juvenile to their residence.

Aug. 1, 2:54 p.m. –

Complainant came into the sheriff’s office to advise of an abandoned vehicle in the 500 block of West Broadway Avenue with its window’s broken out. Sergeant Cameron advised the complainant the vehicle is licensed and legally parked.

Aug. 1, 11:06 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible theft in the 100 block of West Sixth Avenue. Complainant advised that child’s bicycle was taken during the night. While en route the complainant called back to advise their child had found the missing bicycle in the city park.

Aug. 1, 9:49 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious 911 hang up call in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at the Best Western Bronco Inn. Sgt. Cameron contacted the front desk associate who advised they mistakenly dialed the number. Dispatch also advised the subject to remain on the line if it happens again. Sgt. Cameron cleared.

Aug. 1, 9:36 a.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious person call at the Ritzville Pastime. Complainant advised of a male subject attempting to remove their clothing. Sgt. Cameron contacted the subject in front of the Pastime. Subject was clothed except for his shoes. Sgt. Cameron knew of the subject and past behavior and was able to talk the subject into allowing a friend to take them home.

Aug. 1, 12:52 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a suspicious incident in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. Officer Gracie made contact with the complainant who stated there had been subjects in the yard.

Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and was unable to locate anyone.
