Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The results are in from the recent Drive Hammered, Get Nailed enforcement campaign conducted from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3.
In Grant and Adams Counties, 57 motorists were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI), and statewide, law enforcement officers arrested 1,603 drivers for DUI. During the same period of time last year in Grant and Adams Counties, officers on routine and extra patrols also arrested 57 people for DUI.
In Grant and Adams Counties, the Moses Lake, Quincy, and Royal City Police Departments and the Washington State Patrol participated in the extra DUI patrols, with the support of the Central Basin Traffic Safety Task Force.
The extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. These patrols are important because August is one of the deadliest months on Washington’s roadways.
