The LaCrosse-Washtucna Tigercat football team took to the field for the first game of the season against Odessa-Harrington on Friday, Aug. 31, in Washtucna.
The Tigercats had difficulty maintaining the larger players from the Titans team, but were able to keep the score close for the remainer of the game. The Titans were off to an early lead with a score of 0-6 after the first quarter, and their lead slowing grew over the next three quarters.
By the second quarter, Sam Harder scored a touchdown for the Tigercats and moved the score to 6-12 at halftime.
The Tigercats continued to struggle with turnovers in the second half of the game as well as pass coverage down field. The Titans ran away with the score, eventually leading to a 20-44 loss of the Tigercats in their first league game of the season.
The Tigercats’ next game is against an opponent from Kootenai, Idaho, on Friday, Sept. 7. The game begins at 7 p.m. at the LaCrosse football field.
