Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
On Saturday, Sept. 1, a total of 68 entries made their way through the 2012 Ritzville Community Parade and 22 participants in the children’s parade.
Leading the parade route were this years grand marshals, comprised of the metal sculpture artists from around the area including Lamar Thiel, Jake Harder, Sherryl and Vince Evans, and Annie Trunkle-Smart.
Parade honors were given to the following entries:
In the float division, Royal City received the grand sweepstakes award, Chewelah earned first place, Davenport took second place and Connell received third place.
For the mounted division, adult and child group, the Saddle Warmers 4-H Club earned first place.
Mounted division royalty, Miss Rodeo Clayton, LaRena Adams, earned first place, Miss Rodeo Colville, Hannah Gormon, tied with Miss Rodeo Othello, Samantha Howes, for second place.
For the antique automobiles and truck division Harland Eastwood earned first place with a 1938 Buick Business Coupe and Randy Flyckt took home second place for a 1924 Ford Model T Roadster.
In the classic automobile and truck division Terry Olson took first place for a 1966 Ford Mustang, Delbert Lamb earned first place for a 1950 International pickup and Ed Riederich earned second place for a 1955 Plymouth.
Late model modified, custom or hot rod division gave first place honors to Alan Thompson for a 1982 Chevrolet C10 Stepside.
The novelty division first place winners were Aaliyah Yaeger and Kierstin Witt as the Queen Team Pooper Scoopers.
