Opposed to levy to fund school district track improvements

A newspaper account reports the Ritzville School Board voted unanimously to foist the Ritzville Project 56 dream upon the district taxpayers. Each member of the Ritzville School Board should resign whether for misfeasance or malfeasance, it does not really matter. But resign they should as it has been very clear to all that Project 56 was a private effort designed to be financed with voluntary donations. There is no excuse for the action taken by the individual members of the Ritzville School Board. They betrayed their public trust.

The Project 56 leadership should apologize for allowing the Ritzville School Board to take up their cause and the Project 56 leadership should ask the Ritzville School Board to rescind their decision to make their private dream a public responsibility. They too have betrayed the citizens of Ritzville School District.

The individual members of the school board and the individual members of Project 56 who agreed to the tax levy broke faith with the citizens whom they are now asking to pay for the project. The Project 56 dream may have been a good dream when funded by private philanthropy; but it has became a nightmare when dumped at the doorstep of Ritzville taxpayers.
