July 17, 8:30 p.m. – While on patrol, Sergeant Mark Cameron found a storage shed at the high school gym was open, it is normally closed. Sgt. Cameron requested dispatch contact the responsible. Sgt. Cameron checked the building and no one was found. There is a lot of sports equipment in the shed. Dispatch advised the responsible would try to contact someone to respond. Sgt. Cameron waited for 20 minutes with no one showing up. Sgt. Cameron secured the shed and cleared.
July 17, 1:43 p.m. – Chief Dave McCormick responded to an agency assistance call in the 200 block of East Eighth Avenue. The complainant requested contact regarding a death notice. Chief McCormick contacted the complainant who advised they had been in touch with the DOC regarding the death notice.
July 17, 12:45 a.m. – Officer Tom Gracie responded to a nuisance call in the 200 block of East Second Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the listed subjects and requested they keep the noise down.
July 16, 11:36 p.m. – While on patrol Officer Gracie found an open door at the golf course. Officer Gracie notified dispatch of the situation and requested they contact the responsible person.
July 16, 8:46 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an agency assistance call in the 200 block of East Dogwood Avenue. Dispatch advised of power lines sparking in a tree. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who identified the tree. Officer Gracie did not observe any smoke or flame. Ritzville Fire Department arrived and Officer Gracie cleared.
July 16, 6:18 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a silent alarm in the 100 block of East Main Avenue at US Bank. Sgt. Cameron contacted the responsible as they were leaving. The subject advised they accidentally set off the alarm. Sgt. Cameron cleared.
July 16, 5:54 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible missing person call in the 1000 block of South Bauman Street at the Ritz Food Mart. Sgt. Cameron made contact with two complainants that advised a third member of their party drank two bottles of Nyquil and a beer in the bathroom and left in an unidentified vehicle and is missing. Complainants also advised the subject is white female and a known alcoholic and the complainants are concerned because she was previously arrested for a DUI in Oregon with a BAC of .55. Sgt. Cameron checked all local locations that serve alcohol and was unable to locate the subject. Several hours later, Sgt. Cameron located the subject in Chevron with a male subject attempting to buy the subject beer. Sgt. Cameron contacted the complainants and notified them that their missing person had been located.
July 16, 4:50 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a traffic accident in the 200 block of North Division Street. Complainant advised that another vehicle had backed into them. Sgt. Cameron assisted in the insurance exchange and cleared the scene.
July 16, 1:25 p.m. – Officer Hunter Klewin made contact with an unidentified subject in the 600 block of West Main Avenue and booked them into jail on an Adams County warrant.
July 16, 11:03 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a nuisance call in the 300 block of South Columbia Street. The complainant advised of a neighbor making loud noises and barking dogs.
July 15, 9:19 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an agency assist call at East Adams Rural Hospital. Adams County jail staff requested assistance with an uncooperative inmate at the hospital. Officer Gracie responded and assisted.
July 15, 7:23 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a suspicious person call in the 1100 block of South Fairway Avenue. Complainant advised of a female subject urinating in the roadway. Officer Gracie contacted the subject who was uncooperative. The unidentified female was arrested and booked into Adams County Jail.
July 15, 1:30 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a citizen assistance call in the 600 block of West First Avenue.
July 15, 12:24 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a citizen assistance call in the 1000 block of West First Avenue at Jake’s truck stop. The complainant is from New York, stranded and in need of directions.
July 14, 6:02 p.m. – Officer Klewin took an unidentified male into custody on a local warrant at First Avenue and South Lewis Street.
July 13, 8:53 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a suspicious circumstance call in the 300 block of East Alder Avenue. The complainant advised they heard screams for help. Dispatch advised they could hear the screams during the call with the complainant. Sgt. Cameron made contact with the complainant who advised there were calls for help and calls for “Mommy.” Sgt. Cameron contacted the neighbor and their juvenile child. The child advised they were outside the house and hurt and trying to get the attention of the parent who was inside the house with an infant child. Sgt. Cameron advised the juvenile that if this were to happen again they need to try another means of gaining their parents attention.
July 13, 4:31 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a property call on West Main and North Washington. Complainant advised they had found a wallet on the sidewalk. Sgt. Cameron looked at the identification in the wallet and contacted the owner. Owner advised that it appeared nothing was missing.
July 13, 5:00 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a harassment call in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. Complainant advises there are subjects that have been outside the house since 10:30 p.m. the night prior.
July 12, 2:01 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible animal issue in the 1500 block of Smitty’s Blvd. at Zip’s Drive In. Complainant advised of a vehicle with a dog in it. Chief McCormick contacted the owner who advised there were going to be only 10 minutes. The dog had water and did not appear to be overheated. Chief McCormick explained to the dog owner the dangers of leaving an animal in a vehicle in the heat and that they should park their vehicle in the shade and check on their animal frequently.
July 12, 3:01 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a suspicious circumstances call in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. Complainant requested extra patrols in the area.
July 12, 12:33 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible theft in the 200 block of East Birch Avenue. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated they discovered an unauthorized debit had been made against their bank account. Officer Gracie advised the complainant to contact their bank about the suspected fraud.
July 11, 12:36 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible fraud case in the 100 block of East Main Avenue at US Bank. Upon contact a bank employee advised they suspected an elderly customer was the victim of a scam. Chief McCormick had been in contact with this person the week before about the situation. It was determined that the responsible for this person needed to be contacted to handle the situation.
July 11, 11:34 a.m. – Chief McCormick was requested by the city clerk’s office to serve a letter to property owners in the 300 block of East Birch Avenue. The property is under violation of city code.
July 11, 8:01 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible burglary call in the 1600 block of Smitty’s Blvd. at Cow Creek Deli. Chief McCormick made contact with the complainant who advised that some time after 10:30 p.m. last night and 7 a.m., an unknown subject took $420 in tens and twenties from the cash drawer and there was no sign of forced entry. The investigation is ongoing.
July 10, 11:58 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible DUI at the Sun Mart on West Galbreath Way. The complainant advised of a suspect vehicle that had been driving at erratic speeds on Interstate 90. Officer Gracie located the suspect vehicle parked, with the engine off, in the Sun Mart parking lot. Officer Gracie observed the vehicle for a short time and it did not move. Officer Gracie cleared.
July 10, 4:10 a.m. – While on patrol Officer Gracie located an open door on a shed in the 1600 block of Smitty’s Blvd. at Cow Creek Deli. Officer Gracie did not observe anyone in the area and requested dispatch contact the responsible party.
July 10, 1:44 a.m. – Officer Gracie contacted and arrested an unidentified female subject for an active warrant. During a search a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was located. The female was booked into Adams County Jail for the warrant and possession of marijuana under 40-grams.
July 9, 8:32 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a citizen assist call in the 200 block of East Seventh Avenue. Dispatch advised of a screaming female that was difficult to understand and a possible infant that was having seizures. Dispatch later advised the subjects are on the way to EARH in a personal vehicle. Sgt. Cameron responded to assist. Upon contact Sgt. Cameron was advised the female and child were transported by a friend and taken care of. Sgt. Cameron cleared.
July 9, 7:10 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a traffic hazard in the 1400 block of Weber Avenue. Sgt. Cameron made contact with the complainant who advised that a vehicle they were calling about just had left. Complainant further advised that it was a suspicious fifth wheel trailer that was parked along Weber and blocking a lane of traffic.
July 9, 1:58 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron and Officer Klewin responded to an agency assistance call in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at the Best Western. Complainant advised they received a call from a detective out of Spokane looking for a homicide suspect they believed to be in the area. Sgt. Cameron and Officer Klewin checked the area for the possible subject. Officer Klewin made contact with a male subject matching the description of the suspect. The subject was cooperative and provided a current Washington ID card. All information was forwarded to the detective and the officers cleared.
July 9, 11:13 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious person call on Main Avenue and North Adams Street. Officer Klewin made contact with the subject who had fallen asleep in their van. The subject advised they were okay and just resting.
July 9, 2:22 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a suspicious person call in the 100 block of North Adams Street. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated a juvenile who the complainant believed to be under the influence, contacted them about the city’s curfew. Officer Gracie obtained a description of the juvenile from the complainant and conducted a sweep of the area but was unable to locate the subject.
July 9, 2:07 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to the 300 block of West Broadway, the complainant advised of finding a bicycle. Upon contact the complainant advised that a silver and black Huffy brand bicycle had been left in the complainant’s yard by an unknown subject. Officer Gracie retrieved the bicycle and transported it to the police department until it can be claimed.
July 9, 1:32 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a silent alarm in the 1300 block of North Hwy 261 at Big Bend Electric.
July 9, 1:02 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a suspicious incident in the 200 block of East First Avenue at the Top Hat motel. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who advised that someone had been banging on the door. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and was unable to locate anyone.
July 8, 9:17 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a citizen dispute in the 400 block of West Broadway. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated there had been ongoing issues with a renter. Officer Gracie advised the complainant if there were ongoing issues with a renter they might consider initiating the eviction process.
July 8, 9:47 p.m. – While on patrol Officer Gracie located an open door in the 100 block of East Tenth Avenue at the Ritzville Golf Course. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and found nothing. Officer Gracie requested dispatch notify the responsible party. Officer Gracie secured the door and cleared.
July 8, 7:25 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a nuisance call on East Cherry Avenue and North Division Street. Complainant advised of loud music that has been going on for the past three days. Officer conducted a sweep of the area and was unable to locate any loud music.
July 8, 10:43 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a suspicious person call in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Complainant advised two subjects were on their property sitting in their car and moving items in their shed. Officer Klewin searched the property and was unable to locate anyone. The complainant called back two more times advising the subjects had returned and were loading things from the shed into a trailer. Officer Klewin returned to the scene at 3:01 p.m. and the complainant advised the female subject was now wearing a snowman suit. Officer Klewin searched the property and the surrounding area and did not locate the female subject or the trailer.
July 8, 10:29 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a possible burglary in progress in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Complainant advised their shed was being broken into. Officer Klewin arrived on scene along with Trooper Randall Elkins. The officers searched the area and were unable to locate anyone. Officer Klewin contacted the complainant who advised the subject was a six-foot tall female wearing a red hat and a white shirt.
July 8, 7:28 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a malicious mischief call in the 1100 block of South Division Street. The complainant advised of a parked vehicle that had been egged. Officer Klewin located the listed vehicle on 11th Avenue and Division Street. Officer Klewin observed the driver’s side and the rear bumper of the car had dried egg and there were egg shells on the pavement near the car. Officer Klewin took photos of the scene and attempted to contact the listed owner of the vehicle.
July 8, 2:18 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible assault in the 100 block of West Main Avenue at the Ritzville Pastime. Complainant advised there is going to be a fight. Officer Gracie arrived and found the listed subjects had become involved in a verbal altercation. Officer Gracie advised the subjects to go home for the night.
July 7, 1:30 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a hazardous condition call in the 1500 block of Smitty’s Blvd. at Cedars Inn. Complainant advised of sewage running on the ground in the trailer park. Chief McCormick arrived on scene and located areas in the trailer park that appeared to have had sewage coming out of the trailer dump pipes but nothing was running at the time. Chief McCormick contacted the responsible who advised they are aware of the problem and have contacted a company in Spokane to come and take care of it.
July 7, 12:02 a.m. – Officer Klewin responded to a domestic violence call in the 300 block of East Birch Avenue. Officer Klewin arrested Lewis Harrington for assault in the fourth degree domestic violence.
