Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Lind Fire crews were dispatched multiple times yesterday afternoon and evening to respond to fire calls throughout Adams County. The first call happened around 3 p.m. for a cheatgrass fire alongside U.S. Route 395 and State Route 26, at the Country Travel Plaza.
Initially, Lind was the only station dispatched to the scene. Lind Fire had a repeat call to have more trucks respond to the scene. Connell, Warden, and Adams County District 5 were dispatched as well.
Crews did not return to the station until around 7 p.m. that evening. Lind Fire Chief, Don Klemmer, reports that the fire consumed around 350 acres of cheatgrass.
Another call occurred shortly after for a fire at the Adams and Grant County line. Klemmer said that by the time Lind crews reached the area, the fire had already been extinguished.
Around midnight, crews were dispatched to return to the fire at the Plaza to extinguish hot spots that had reignited. Lind Fire remained at the scene for nearly two hours.
